because i think the president was showing disrespect and you don't seem to agree with that.
we can agree that people mourn differently. people behave differently at funerals and all of that.
memorial day isn't a funeral though and it isn't a day for mourning.
remembrance and honor. that, to me. is what it is all about.
i don't do the bbq, go to the beach, have a big party like it's 4th of july thing that a lot of people do. to each their own. i do think everyone should take a moment to remember, acknowledge, honor and respect.
today is pretty much a regular day for me. BUT, i do honestly take a few moments to remember and i sit down every year and remind my son, who just turned 16, what it is all about. i don't know anyone personally who died while in the military. i have two brothers who served, but neither went to war.
it's [trump's little thing today] really not a big deal to me. i think he looked ridiculous more than anything. but it is disappointing, honestly. all he had to do was stand and respect for 60 seconds during the anthem.
That's pretty much my take on it.
I don't treat Memorial Day like July 4th, either. It's a solemn day. I thought some about my grandfathers, who both fought in WW2. One of them fought there and in Korea.
I also thought of friends and family who have served and are no longer with us.

He loves his country, and the national anthem, regardless of where it is presented, is the strongest symbol of the country he loves so much.
He loves what this country is not or should not be - all-white, dictatorship, bullying the world, and plundering (his words, "he'd take the oil").
He has NO CLUE what this country is, does NOT know the words to the National Anthem of the "country he loves so much," does not have any knowledge of much less respect the Constitution or the Bill of Rights as demonstrated by him and WH since he took office, especially freedom of speech, except only where HIS freedom of speech is concerned, and which he believes gives him the right to recite the most outrageous lies, make the most outrageous false accusations, and call the truth "fake."

I noticed that too but he wasn't standing smiling and moving to the beat. I would have no issue if he just mouthed the words, many do but I do have an issue with him smiling and moving around. This was at Arlington, not a backyard barbecue.
