It may already be on the books. Since they are illegal, crooked politicians are letting them get away with living off us. Large companies are reaping the benefits from the honest taxpayer who is footing the bill. Trump is heading in the right direction. When the meal ticket goes, so will the illegal.
What is it about this very law already being on the books for over 20 years now, are you people not getting?
Trump tomorrow could say he thinks 'driving while intoxicated' should be illegal and idiots on here would clamour over his eruditeness.
It seems you guys are as unaware as Trump. This law has already existed since the 90s...
we know...
The official said that Trump is aiming for a "total rewrite of our immigration system" that would produce a "merit-based system for entry."
The official pointed to Trump's comment Wednesday night that "those seeking admission into our country must be able to support themselves financially," but declined to offer additional details about that proposal.
"There are many welfare benefits for which immigrants would no longer be eligible," the senior administration official said.
Several categories of legal immigrants are exempt from the five-year ban on accessing government welfare programs, including children, refugees and veterans of the US military.
Rich legal immigrants coming to the country to retire? Haven't heard of that. What system is there to take advantage of? If they're rich, that would probably be to our advantage as they would buy an expensive house and pay property taxes and they would spend the rest of their money here in our country. They would boost our economy with their spending. They certainly aren't going to get anything for free.
well, now you have. They normally gave all their money to their children, and they can get ssi and medicare /medicaid. It happens all the time. If you are not one of them, don't worry about it because I certainly am not talking about YOU.

No one can get Medicare unless they've worked a certain number of years and have paid enough into the system. It's impossible for a retired immigrant to come here and get Medicare. Maybe if they marry an American who has Medicare and is able to afford around $500+ a month in premiums for them? Medicare is based upon having worked enough years here.
SSI and Medicaid--they would have had to be here at least five years to receive any sort of assistance. Doesn't matter if they gave their money away and are living under a bridge, they can't get assistance for five years. If they're over age 65 they can't get SSI--over age 65 you collect social security based upon your earnings. They won't have enough earnings so they will not qualify for social security. They might be eligible for Medicaid after five years of living here though, I don't know.
I support it if they offer federal loan housing assistance and federal bussibess loans at low fixed rates to immigrants entering the U.S.
Also reform immigration policies. Do away with less red tape. Require quotas and point systems to those immigrating to the U.S. Point system would be something of have a 2 year collehe degree 2 points, license to do X type of work 2 points, no major convictions/connections to gangs or terrorist/never incarcerated 2 points, family in the U.S. 2 points, plan to start a bussiness & pending loans 2 point's, and military experience 2 points.
Also in 2 year's must have completed an ESL Course. 3 year's can apply for citizenship and be eligible for tax payer Government benefits.
No to building a wall. Expand Border Patrol instead.
Decriminalize prostitution and victimless drug crimes.
Vouchers for childcare for U.S. citizens. Tuition higher education leave the decision up to the State.
Government funded health insurance market. Medicare replaced by adjustable health insurance based off income/household size. Only available to U.S. citizens.
4 year emergency universal healthcare coverage to the homeless who are U.S. citizens. Universal healthcare treatment for substance abuse, mental health, and cancer for U.S. citizens. Universal healthcare coverage to U.S. citizens over 65.
But the ignoramus wasn't talking about enforcement, he talked as if this was a bright idea he'd just dreamed up. And you can't apply for welfare without handing off an SSN - and SSNs are linked to your immigration status.
A law saying Congress can't set up a program to run health care?
Or one saying it can't make a law regarding how people exercise their religion?
Or one saying it can't make a law restricting people's guns and their ability to own and carry them?
Or one saying it can't regulate the environment, other than stuff that crosses state borders?
You're right, all of them already on the books. And have been for 230 years.
And as regularly violated by the liberals (in both parties) as the sun comes up.
Now, if he would propose a law calling for stiff penalties on those who violate them (including lawmakers), then we'd be getting somewhere. Presently there are no such penalties. No wonder the liberals figure they can get away with what they are doing.
“I believe the time has come for new immigration rules which say that those seeking admission into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years,” Trump said on Wednesday night at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The crowd cheered wildly at this latest example of Trump’s tough-on-immigrants rhetoric, and the president soaked in the applause.
Oh my God!!!! Thank you so much for posting this. This proves it! I'm done with Trump now.
