I know you're being sarcastic, but the reality is that health care is a for-profit endeavor in this country and sick people are, in fact, liabilities from a business perspective. End of story. You literally have no point. I'm not saying the current system is moral, but it is what it is and always will be unless we, the taxpayers, are willing to dismantle the entire health insurance industry. Partial steps like the ACA just make it worse.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. You, unlike many others in this thread, pose a logical argument based on a very real pragmatic concern.

I, and many others who have arbitrarily been deemed "high income", are perfectly content to contribute to the well being of those less fortunate than ourselves. However, it's really frustrating to have to listen this constant whining about rich people not paying their fair share when they're already paying far more than their fair share. The people who aren't paying any taxes or a minimal taxes should be grateful instead of constantly biting the hand that feeds them. And the audacity of demanding ever more free handouts while pontificating about "fairness" is simply stupefying. Appreciate the free stuff you're already getting and stop throwing temper tantrums about not having the same standard of living (which includes health insurance) as other people.

Marco Rubio: 23 Million Set to Lose Insurance Under AHCA "Small Percentage" of Population | Miami New Times

Give Marco Rubio this: His mathematics are sound. The U.S. population is about 321 million people, which means the 23 million human beings set to lose access to basic health insurance under the GOP's Obamacare repeal plan are, indeed, only about 7 percent of all Americans.

So — in terms of pure numbers — Rubio was right on when he defended the Republican plan by noting that just "a small percentage of the overall population" would be affected by his party's mad rush to dismantle Obama's health-care plan
The only bright spot is that many who will lose insurance voted for Trump

It is a fair point that only a small percent of Americans were unhappy with their healthcare pre ACA. That's the core problem with ACA: to help a few people who were unhappy with their health coverage (or lack thereof) the entire system was shook up and everyone's premiums doubled within a couple years. I do want every citizen and also legal non citizens to have affordable health coverage options, the better plan would have been to expand Medicaid, paid for mostly by higher but still cheap co pays.

Government protection of the economy, of your income stream, and your wealth is actually worth something. If you think it's worthless, try living, earning, and storing your wealth in a third world country. In that context, a millionaire gets far more 'value' from government than does a worker who lives paycheck to paycheck.

But it doesn't have to be prohibitively expensive, every other developed country does it for much cheaper. It only has to be expensive because 'America is so special it can't do anything like the rest of the world does' - idiotic, completely idiotic.

Completely insane. Families are paying more just for their healthcare than many many families pay in their entire tax bill which covers far more than healthcare over here.
