A Minneapolis woman says a city police officer responding to a home burglary alarm Saturday night shot her two dogs, CBS Minnesota reports.

Woman says police officer responding to burglary alarm shot her dogs

What's up with the police feeling free to kill any dog they see under the guise of self protection? They're killing innocent animals for sport it seems.

These protectors need to be trained better.

The dog wasn't being aggressive. Are you saying all animals should be preemptively shot just in case they do start to show aggression? Would this philosophy extend to humans too?

Bc they've been given a free pass for last few decades to do it to people?

Again... Europe, Japan, And S. Korea don't have a problem with cops shooting dogs. Why do you think that is?

That and they use the collective stupidity of a big swath of America to pull the wool over their eyes.

There's no way, "I felt threatened" would work as a legitimate excuse in the UK, France, Germany, or Japan. But feed that crap line to most Americans and their thinking caps short-circuit.

Really? I guess you don't have much experience in handling animals. Part of the job of policing is coming in contact with animals, so they should have training in how to handle them without shooting them being the first choice. It IS really that simple.

That soap box is worn out. More people from Europe, Japan, And S. Korea want to live here than us there. Why do you think that is?

I think it's reactionary and conditioning. They have K-9s that are trained to attack. They may not keep in mind that not all dogs attack. Some just bark a lot.

Also, there are many false alarms, so that means a lot of pets are in danger.

If I were a cop and a dog came at me I'm shooting it. Sorry.
