Common sense would dictate to me that with nearly as many guns in circulation as there are people, the ship on gun control in America has sailed, arrived at its destination, made 10-20 more trips, and is now sitting retired in the marina.
Gun control (really weapon control because they control knives and swords as well) like the controls that exists in Japan CAN work, as demonstrated in Japan with their astoundingly low violent crime rates, however - it is a completely different situation where guns, at least relatively, simply do not exist in that country, because they have NEVER allowed them.
In order for that to work here you would need a time machine.
We definitely need guns with silencers. Cant have the next mass shooter having his element of surprise spoiled.
They lose the element of surprise for
1. Suppressors add length to the weapon. You can't tuck a pistol in your waistband with a can attached to the barrel and readily pull it.
2. They still go, bang! Not like in Hollywood movies.
3. They make a gun run dirtier causing jams and failures to cycle properly.
4. They can inhibit aim due to the fact they need volume to absorb spent gasses be it long and skinny, short and fat. Wet or dry element. Look at mufflers on 3/4 ton gasoline powered pickups. If they aren't the size of a half keg of beer, they're long and skinny. Same applies with suppressors.
Look at the construction of a muffler. Baffles that either redirect the waves to cancel each other out-chambered muffler
Or a tube with holes cut leading gases to an absorbent material-glasspacks steel packed mufflers.
Yet you support a party that doesn't have any common sense.
Shrug, as do you. Party platforms often lack common sense on a lot of topics. They are red meat for the base, without any corresponding logic or comprehension behind them.
A surprising % of liberals are pro second amendment. Painting a huge group with a large brush is a mistake.
