But as a guest worker, they are not considered immigrants at all. They are simply someone coming into the USA to take a job - guest worker.

Not much different than a vacationer on a visa, except they stay longer and they are allowed to work. We don't call vacationers immigrants either unless they apply to be legal immigrants or if they overstay their visa and become illegal immigrants.

And it increases traffic and congestion. Some of these workers will have babies while in the US, creating new US Citizens. And if they don't have health insurance, maybe they'll stiff the hospital for the cost of delivering the baby.
What a load of horse hockey lol.

These are guest workers who are admitted without their families. So if they are having babies it will be with American women lol.

Also, it will not impact rents as most of them are provided housing by their employers as part of their employment arrangement.

Admit it. You just made all this stuff up didn't you?

I'm not addressing that. i'm addressing the comments that say immigration to the united states is horrible. period. And most stay here and become citizens, and that's very frequent.

I know most H1B visa holders eventually stay forever and get green cards and then citizenship. Does the same thing usually occur for H2B visa holders - where they typically stay forever and fill out the proper legal paperwork to stay, over time?

Were you aware that these 15,000 H2B visas are NOT for farm labor jobs but rather; temporary jobs in the seafood, tourism, landscaping, construction and other seasonal industries..Before you try to defend this, tell us where there is a shortage of citizens willing to take construction jobs...this is just BS.

Casinos in Nevada have been using this program for years to fill positions on the cheap, never mind that none of those jobs have ever gone empty because no citizens want those jobs...

There might be a time where they have to go back to their homeland and reenter the United States, but i'm not sure about that type of Visa. With any visa, it's a path to citizenship really.

What is the problem with that?

Once again Visa holders are legally entering the US and will be beholding to our laws.
Illegals that sneak in or overstay their Visas are breaking the law and need to be held accountable.
Many of them DO overstay their Visas.

He needs them for his golf courses. He couldn't find people in Palm Beach County.

I think this is just seasonal guest workers and we do need them where I live. (I hate Trump.) But there was a thread in the Maine forum about summer places having to close because they couldn't find workers.

These are jobs that used to go to college kids but now college kids get paid internships instead. These motel owners can't afford to pay high wages because most of their business happens during our short summers. The rest of the year they don't make much money.

They can't pay an American kid enough money to be able to afford living expenses, let alone have money left over.

Nothing wrong with seasonal workers--THEY GO HOME at the end of the season. AND when they go home, the little bit of money they earned here will go further in their country than it would here. Usually the employer gives them food and a place to stay and probably they are under supervision too. That's how they used to pick crops here seasonally. Americans wouldn't have put up with the 3 months of work, low pay, and rotten living conditions but for the temporary workers it was a lot better than what they would have had in their own country.

I'm not embarrassed at all.

And if you talked to the small business owners in your area, you would know that lots of them are having trouble finding people to hire.

The reality is that when the unemployment rate dips below 5% we are at full employment.

Once you get there, most of the Americans showing up to be hired are not someone that anyone would hire. They are either criminals, druggies, illiterate or have a checkered employment record that presents a risk to the business owner.

It took me 4 months to have a backyard fence replaced. Reason? Partly due to a storm last fall that took a lot of fences out. But, mainly because the fencing companies cannot keep up with demand because they cant hire enough workers at any price.

Trust me there are no lines of Americans standing in line for the temp/seasonal jobs in FL.

Try hiring someone for purely unskilled manual labor like lawn maintenance........almost impossible.

The guy who just showed up to clean my pool looks like he just got out of prison. And, he's the fourth guy in two months. I'm thinking of changing companies because he makes me uncomfortable.

There are surely lots of Americans still looking for good jobs and those who are underemployed which the unemployment rate disguises, but there are not really employable Americans still unemployed.
