Refusing to glorify a dark chapter in our history is a far cry from erasing it.
We should always remember what the South and conservatives stood for: owning humans as property! And remain vigilant against those who would seek to rewrite the truth to suit their narrative.
And always watch out for those who attempt to use straw men and diversions to change the subject!
No one is asking anyone to forget that the South defended owning humans as property.
All races practiced slavery all over the world for thousands of years.
I notice that you only complain about southern whites.
It was the "South" that fought to retain humans as property, right? The Civil War. Hear of it? Or have you managed to re-write that to suit your narrative too?
Yes, I've heard of it.
The North won, and there is no more slavery, but you're still all butt hurt and a sore winner.
Now you want to go down south and erase/censor the heritage of almost half the country.
Just like ISIS or the Taliban would.
Quote:
George was just one of those "liberal artists" you hate.
I know. It sucks to realize he was targeting people like you with his stories and you missed it. Probably a little embarrassing even, to those who understand the concept of shame. But, now you know. You can choose to continue appropriating his work or get a clue. Your choice.
It's typical of pseudo intellectual frauds to read "Democratic socialist" about a writer they've never even read themselves in a biographic blurb and then conclude that said writer supports their loony totalitarian left wing politics.
Orwell's socialism wasn't anything like the loony left, bigoted, race hustling politics of the American Left today.
But you live in a world of stereotypes and labels, so I'm not surprised.

We are living in an age where the entitled not only want free stuff from government, but now want to oppress those productive individuals that supply the free stuff.

Exactly.
What they're really doing with this statue craze of theirs is the symbolic equivalent of digging up graves and defiling the corpses, and then dumping them on the doorsteps of the descendants of the dead leaders and the descendants of those who valiantly fought and died under them.
Hateful, very hateful. And arrogant.
They're also virtue signaling and broadcasting their snotty "I'm better than you" attitude.

They should be chased out of the South.
The citizens of Charlottesville should be chased out of the south?
Precisely. Someone who "supposedly" supports socialism wouldn't have penned "Animal Farm."
The left, yet again, exhibits their intellectual inadequacy and/or under-education.
And yet, he did.
"Perhaps what would most sum up Orwell’s sociopolitical views is his commentary on his writing, of which he said:
Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism as I understand it.10"
Keep in mind that by American standards, most post-war Brits are socialists, including the conservatives.
He was adamantly opposed to totalitarianism, and a passionate advocate of clear writing, since he thought clear language resulted in clear thinking. In some ways he is an intellectual precursor of Noam Chomsky, in his interest in how the powerful use language to shape behavior.
You keep making it clear that you don't consider yourself American. But that's OK. No one is trying to make you one.
Gomer...
I dont confuse worship of govt. w/ being american.
