And your source is??? There is no source out there tying this guy to any political movement on either the left or the right. Video of a random old white dude at a protest is not a source when it's pure speculation that it's the same person, and nothing to back it up.
This doesn't make any sense. We have to have rules to keep order. Guns are causing chaos in our society. It's the same reason, rape, murder, robbery, and pedophilia are against the law.
There are already hundreds if not thousands of layers of gun laws on all levels.
Just curiously, how could a gun like the one I heard be obtained legally? It was a fully automatic, not semi-auto. I am a law abiding citizen with no record and I don't think I could obtain one of those legally!
Yes I do understand that one could be obtained by legal means but it is not an easy process at all. I would not qualify for the permit.

Well CD'ers berating the British recently to do something about knife violence, are satisfied doing nothing about mass murder in the USA. After the condolences and prayers, things will be back to routine until the next shooting.
the knife violence bit is just noise produced by gun fetish folk who wish to pretend they are equivalent. The gun lovers know they are wrong, but they just love the feel of the weapons so they would rather see hundreds of thousands of dead kids than give up that gun... ya know, cause it feels good holding that gun and it gives them a sense of control in a world where they are fearful.
The USA could fix the problem, we just lack the will, just as we lack the will to truly tackle healthcare and our bloated military.

I understand that some people think that good law-abiding people must lose rights because bad people out there won't follow the law. I just happen to disagree with that mentality. I don't really want to live in a society that is overly-punitive toward it's good citizens just because that's easier than dealing with it's bad citizens.

From what I read the needed modification isn't rocket science. In today's world I wouldn't doubt there's a YouTube video somewhere.

Yes, I agree, given the strong family history of mental health issues (psychotic and suicidal father).
Also, he would have been around 8 when his father was arrested in Las Vegas and then disappeared from the family forever. In a deranged psychopath's mind, that might have been motive enough to shoot up Las Vegas.
It would be interesting to find out whether the shooter had any contact with his father before he died in 1998 (he apparently died in Texas after being paroled).
I'm sure the FBI is probably looking into this, as well as other aspects of the shooter's past and present mental states.
