Something smells fishy with this one. Did he kill himself or was he shot by law enforcement? That should be a pretty easy one to answer but the news has been all over the place on that one. Very curious what the real story is on this guy.
agree, usually we know everything there is to know about one of these situations within 5 to 10 minutes, very strange indeed

The news I've heard has all been 100% consistent that he shot himself before authorities entered the room. Not sure where you are hearing otherwise.
This is a very accurate (and reasonable!) stance. I don't understand why people passionate for this topic can't sync up on the actual indisputable stats so that we can have a meaningful and honest discussion. As long as people are willing to ignore the two above issues that you have outlined, we can continue to just argue with one another while more people die.
Only when America and Americans are willing to admit that our gun violence numbers are almost entirely comprised of the two above scenarios, and only when we include solutions for those two scenarios into the discussion, can we be on the same page and maybe get somewhere.
But you don't get to make it political and call people right wing gun nuts this way...therein lies the problem.
He was shooting at a concert venue outside. The crowd was a quarter of a mile away. They would not have immediately known what was happening to run for cover. Some said they thought it was pyrotechnics, but quickly realized it was gunshots.
If people just started dropping in the crowd without the associated noise of the gun, people surely would have taken longer to figure it out and get out of there.
I don't mean this sarcastically, but it appears that you are arguing that silencers are ok for indoor mass shootings because you can hear them?
Sweet Jesus.....
What I'm saying is supressors wouldn't have made a squats worth of a difference because they don't "silence" a gun anywhere as much as people think they do.
And the bigger the gun, they less they suppress the number of decibels.
Guns are LOUD....so much so that most people are suprised at how loud they really are in real life as opposed to the movies where you have scenes where two people are talking to each other while shooting.....It's complete Hollywood BS.
So, even with a suppressor, a sporting rifle used inside a hotel room would have been easily heard by other guests in the hotel.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if people in the hotel had more to do with pinpointing what room he was in than people hearing or seeing the muzzle flash from the ground.
Absolutely YES ...... and the way that Citizens jumped in to try and get the wounded out of the danger zone, when they had no idea of what the "danger zone" even was is astounding.
But only in today's modern world do we give them the tools to take out more and more people because of their own issues. How come none of the 2A fanatics ever lament the fact that they are prevented from buying consumer-grade grenade launchers? There must be a reason why we aren't allowed to buy them, right? Hmmm....
I think first we might want to look at why our population is so hostile in South and North America. Why we have so much mental illness, and why do so many attach themselves to hate groups?
It's our people we need to address, our attitude in America. Then we can check other boxes. We always go right to the weapon choice which is a bit naive. Plenty of countries have gun owners and little murder from them. We should ponder why at some point.
Let's see. One for skeet, one for trap, one for long distance comp, one for hunting big game, one for varmints, one for rodents, one for ducks, one for quail.
You don't think one gun works for all hunting and shooting do you?
I don't know much about guns, but it seems unlikely that he did that kind of damage at that distance using birdshot.
