Agreed. I'd be royally po'ed if my son's teacher made such a comment.

Since NJ taxes are so high, I'm pretty sure that teachers there do as well as they do where I live. You can get into the six figures pretty quickly and have summer off and lots of vacation. It's incredibly competitive to get into the school systems here.

When in a class where English is spoken, you speak English. To do otherwise is rude and disrespectful.

Outside the classroom they can speak whatever gibberish they desire.

Funny how some make excuses for the poor behavior of adults being paid to do their jobs.
Never fails. You will always have the sympathizers defend pathetic behavior at all costs, even if it means making up scenarios without any proof.

As far as why, well, I'm sure you can figure out why.

Did the fact that the teacher demand that they "speak American" fly right over your head?

I went to a department store and asked two people for a
certain item. They did not even know what I was asking for. Their English was bad. This is the new America.

No, and I don’t care.

Speak English.

Or leave.

Clearly. I'll bet you're one of those who moans about the declining quality of public education, too, even as you defend this idiot English teacher who doesn't even realize that American is not a language.

Furthermore, I will speak anything I damn well please, and I'm not going anywhere.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
