Like I said, that was due to much higher infant mortality rates among the poor in that past. That doesn't exist in the US anymore. So, basically, as a society, we're all financially screwed. The over-breeding of the poor is COMPLETELY mathematically unsustainable.
And now we do have welfare and they are still having kids at a 3:1 ratio to non poor.
That is exponential growth of poverty as most born into poverty stay there.

3:1 ratio, where did you get that? I'd sure like to see a source for it.
The rate for African-Americans is actually higher than it looks on paper because immigrants from Africa have much lower out of wedlock birth rates of about 34%.
Hispanic immigrants also have much lower out of wedlock birthrates than latinas who were born in America.
Approaching 80% now, cool. Looks like Latinas are closing the gap and folks wonder why Trump prefers Norwegian and Asian immigrants, ok.
Actually it's not. Historically in England the wealthier classes had more children, live births and kids that lived to adulthood. It's actually thought that since the English, skewed more to the middle class after the plague that it led to the Industrial Age and global expansion.
The out of wedlock crisis is completely due to welfare. If welfare didn't exist, lower and middle class women would marry and raise children with a dependable nice guy. Since welfare exists lower class women let their primitive hindbrain influence their sexual selection...so they have children with the most dangerous thug on the street or some other type of bad boy. They could care less that he won't stick around because they get alll kinds of cash and prizes from Uncle Sam. The really sad thing about this is the Republicans won't cut off welfare to single moms. So this horrific trend will continue. People wonder why young men play video games all day. The answer is they can not compete against the welfare state. They are of no use so they might as well indulge in games and hobbies.
More to do with the lack of social sanction than welfare. Very few girls get with a guy to get on welfare but there's no societal penalty for getting with a thug that will never amount to much.

I don't think you can compare the two communities - hispanic families and black families. Their culture and social norms are nothing at all the same.
Hispanic men are very involved in their families, although maybe they're not technically married. When you see groupings of hispanic families at parks, you see old couples, young couples, babies, etc. It's not the norm to see a hispanic young man who has babies from 3 or 4 different young women, with the babies being all roughly the same age. That's just not tolerated, either by the young women or the older generation.

Maybe in England, but in other societies the poor were more likely to breed higher amounts.
I guess back in 1965 the rate of African-American out of wedlock births was only 24%. So basically, it has gone from 24% to 77% over the last half century.
It coincides with LBJ's War on Poverty, and Great Society where we started rewarding people for having kids out of wedlock. It was basically to buy the Black, poor vote. It worked.
