It seems Trump had agreed to it and then changed his mind...or someone changed his mind.

There were three agreements presented to Trump after his declaration that he would sign any bi-partisan deal...he changed his mind on all three.

They need to bring whoever is changing Trump's mind into the meetings so they don't have to play this game.

Trump is trying to pretend he is the decision maker on this and it is clear he isn't.

Why are the majority who voted NO on the short term budget are Democrats? Looks like Democrats are prioritizing grandstanding over DACA and CHIP.... all for politics... LIBERAL FAIL...

What trump is really prioritizing is the risk of angering his base (35% of population) over the needs of our military.

The CR "NOT" being voted on was a clean bill to merely continue the government operating under the old budget. It was the Democrats insistence on adding stuff to it to get things they wanted to get passed, that would otherwise have trouble getting passed, that is the issue here. If they did not want DACA to be included in the CR, they would not have had to offer money for the wall to be included. The amount of money they offered to put in the bill becomes inconsequential when you understand that.

remember, the 60 votes needed, were to stop the Democrat's filibuster to keep the CR vote from going to the floor of the Senate. There is nothing in the CR bill that would cause the Democrats to vote against it. They are hiding from their constituents that they are using the filibuster to make political points while their constituents are being hurt by the shutdown.

They left on an optimistic note, with Schumer asking Trump to sell it to his folks. Some hours later, John Kelly called Schumer back and said no deal, it was still too liberal.

If this did in fact transpire in this manner... shouldn't both sides have taken it?

Feels like some hardliners basically blocked what would have been a reasonable compromise.
"Schumer says"

Why doesn't he produce something to back it up.

Those of us that have known Schumer for DECADES KNOW he is big liar.

"The sole face-to-face meeting between Trump and a Democratic lawmaker on Friday was a last-ditch effort to keep the government open by a President whose party controls both chambers of Congress. But 90 (mostly friendly) minutes of hashing out options on immigration plans couldn't get Trump -- or his sole aide in the room, chief of staff John Kelly

So only 3 people were in the room and somehow the Wash Post and CNN KNOW what was said.

The blame game is going hard these days.

Reality -- bases on either side won't budge and those in the middle are just pissed off at everyone. It doesn't help with approval ratings for any party, politician or the President.

They have to know that -- someone has to know that nobody wins with all of this.

Makes about 35% of the population feel better. While the better educated and higher earners will be forced to pay for these idiots' wall.
