Pennsylvania’s new congressional districts are gerrymander-free — and Republicans are angry

Quote:
Not wanting to give up its unfairly gerrymandered districts, Pennsylvania GOP leaders vow “action in federal court”

The need to create a new map emerged after the State Supreme Court ruled last month that the previously gerrymandered map "clearly, plainly and palpably violates" the state's Constitution.

The main result of the changes to the map is that districts which were previously elongated and often cut into county and municipal boundaries have instead been made more compact and consistent with other political boundaries.

Boy, what is this country coming to when a political party cannot violates the Constitution and ensure their candidates always win???? That can't be what democracy is about!!!

Democracy is great, until people don’t vote the way you want them to.

The new map is NOT gerrymander free. It has now been gerrymandered for the benefit of the Democrats by a overtly partisan and activist 5-2 Democrat appointed court.

This just goes to show what we already knew - that Democrats are only bothered by gerrymandering when they are not the ones doing it.

justices in Pennsylvania are elected, not appointed.

Pardon me, you are right, they are elected. But it is 5-2 Democrat court and the map they recommended is apparently more favorable to the Democrats than the map the Democrats in the state legislature had originally requested.

The fix is in.

There is no fix. Only to you there is because you don't agree with it.

Well the State Supreme Court ruled that the gerrymandering violates the Pennsylvania (not the Federal) Constitution, but don’t let actual facts get in the way of a good State Rights rant.
