All of these blathering supporters of assault rifles are brave when it comes to confronting someone wielding a knife or maybe a kid with a slingshot or talking about what they’d have done after the fact. In reality, if the other person has an actual gun or God forbid, an assault rifle, the vast majority of these armchair heroes would be running for the hills at first sign of gun fire with everyone else.

Something else might have worked just as well. A cup of hot coffee from Starbucks in his face might have been sufficient. We don't need assault rifles for every occasion. Of course the guy with the knife could have overpowered the "hero" and taken the rifle and shot ten people.
I was thinking that too, my husband has a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido and he teaches other students how to disarm attackers.

Do cops that know martial arts ever try to take down a person with a knife using their Kung fu? Lol nope they have family to go home to and would not take a chance. What if that Knife wielding bad guy knows martial arts too? What then? Use a belt like Jason Bourne?

Stop being delusional. One thing these mentally disturbed bad guys will always have the advantage of is the element of surprise. More guns will not stop these events.

Do you even know martial arts.....no. But this is what they teach. Go to an exhibition sometime and see what these black belts can do. It's pretty amazing.
I do. I am trained in two different forms. And any martial artist will tell you that confronting someone with a knife while you are unarmed is a last resort. Doing so when you have the option of having a firearm is idiotic.
lol so is a chainsaw or a snub nose 38 if the person you are going after is armed with a knife, hell for that matter throwing a chair at them works pretty well too
