He - or any of his predecessors - would have shown up if any other President had been willing to meet. There is plenty of documentation of that, it's been a stated goal of North Korea for decades.
This is seriously not a significant accomplishment. That's not an attack, it's just a truthful statement. North Korea has wanted to be recognized as a player on the world stage for decades. Trump just gave them that. That's not an accomplishment that was in our interests.
Will it soften the ground for actual accomplishment? Perhaps. But in and of itself, this is not an achievement to celebrate.
To myself and many millions of other's it is an historic event. So your perception of your truthful statement is not shared but your own.... that is not a criticism of you, it is, however, accurate and truthful.
Meeting was a dud, it seems. Trump did not get anything. Kim got to be the main act on center stage. Kim now has nukes and a place at the table - something his family dynasty has been seeking for three generations.
Trump already said there would be no deal in the first meeting, so not sure where you've been....
Its just a get-to-know-you and the start of a process.

where and how could you possibly have knowledge of your statement?
It is interesting those critical of Trump meeting with the leader of a brutal regime with an oppressive human rights record (which is true) but are seemingly OK with the red carpet with being rolled out for the Saudi Royal Family at the White house under both Democratic and Republican presidents (including Obama).
I don't think much of this meeting, its a photo op and not much more, but some of you are guys just trying be negative for over anything Trump does are just boring partisan hacks.
No different to the GOP refusing to give Obama credit for anything.
Actually, they've given up quite a bit just to get to this meeting as already pointed out in this thread previously.
North Korea stopped lobbying missiles over Japan, and had stopped a lot of its bombastic rhetoric. They stopped testing of nuclear weapons and dismantled a nuke test site.
No one is expecting that there will be complete denuclearization from this one meeting, unless you are a die hard Trump hater. It's going to take several meetings to get to that point, as there are multiple issues to go over.

They did not dismantle a test site - it exploded all on it's own. That is well documented.
And don't lie about what I or anyone else have said -no one said that it had to be full denuclearization today or it doesn't count. We are just asking for some actual accomplishment and nope, no matter how many times it's claiming, agreeing to meet was not an accomplishment. They would have met with any other US President who had been willing to meet with them one on one. All prior administrations had a policy of wanting multilateral talks.
google it, or search CD, it's been discussed at length
