Logic might dictate that if there have been no charges leveled, no raids, no indictments, that maybe, just maybe she never did anything that could be construed as "illegal."
Overlooking the fact that this alleged relationship occurred in 2006,...
the affair was 2006, the pay-off was 2016, 11 days before the election.

the FEC doesn't see it that way. if the intent was to keep daniels quiet so it wouldn't affect the election the FEC does consider that a contribution. cohen is arguing that the election wasn't a consideration ( which is ridiculous given the timing ).
The exact opposite of what has happened is being investigated. What has happened that was illegal is being ignored. And in fact, it’s being covered up. The real scandal, the real collusion is Hillary Clinton, the Democrat National Committee (remember Bernie Sanders? he wasn't the chosen one either). The intelligence communities, the FBI, the Obama administration, that’s the collusion, to try to destroy the Trump campaign and then his election, his presidency, and the transition.
