You can forget any idea that the people working for Trump have a clue what this is all about
Even though many of them went to decent colleges, I think they failed the real test of a good education--
Learning to think for themselves
There is no way ANYONE who thinks for themselves can reconcile Trump's manipulation of factual events into his propaganda statements...but they don't care....they just absolutely don't care
This is the classic case of their thinking the ends justify the means--
Whatever the "ends" might be in one particular nano moment and the "means" they are to achieve...
Was watching clip of Pompeo yesterday---
His "never fear, never fear, never fear" comment was designed to make my skin crawl
This is a man who was graduated TOP OF HIS CLASS at West Point--
That has to mean something as to intelligence and honesty...
How he can pander for Trump's agenda just leaves me so sad---
My husband said his "evangelical" bent is what links him to Trump's power but I can't believe that for a military man with his credential that God trumps country...
I. Just. Don't. Get. It.
I can't say I get it either. There are too many analogies to dismiss when considering Mr. Trump's strategies & then comparing to historical authoritarian/totalitarian regimes.
Granted, 'Big Brother' was a creation of George Orwell for his novel '1984' but who cannot see the parallels of the 'Two Minutes of Hate' & Mr. Trump's campaign rallies?
Quote:
The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic. And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blowlamp.
Mr. Trump's 'two minutes hate' campaign strategy has continued right up to the present day. Also analogous to George Orwell's description of 'Two Minutes Hate' in '1984' ~ the hate that got him elected is stirred again & again to keep his base loyal (to him) & to minimize any subversive thoughts or behavior. It doesn't even matter if his so-called 'enemies' are real, imagined, or change from day to day.
As for people who have worked in his administration, or those who continue to work there having a clue?
You are very likely right, most folks likely do not have a clue. The Trump administration, from day 1, has been 'flying by the seat of his pants' so to speak.
Mr. Trump & especially his family members were just as surprised as everyone else ~ even his acceptance speech ~ he had none prepared ~ he was 'flying by the seat of his pants then & still is.
He did though have a concessions speech prepared.
More significantly, Mr. Trump took the POTUS oath of office to "preserve, protect & defend the Constitution of the United States" & was not prepared to do so ~ he is still not & is therefore unfit for the office he holds.
All he has is the 'two minute hate' campaign that got him elected, it's his MO, he pulls it out whenever he can & hopes it will keep him in office.
Which brings me back to Spicer’s memoir and the Trump administration, which from day one has pursued an entirely different kind of systematic deception than Nixon or anyone else who came before.
Trump and his minions don’t fear the consequences of truth, because they don’t believe those consequences really apply to them. The president doesn’t habitually lie — about Russian election meddling, or about his paying off a concubine, or about what he said on camera or into a tape recorder just yesterday or the day before that — because he thinks the truth will be politically calamitous.
And how he had a star in first place..? He was never some accomplished, popular and talented celeb. (He likely paid to get one).
He paid for it. $30K
Lots of well respected movie stars don't have stars on the Hollywood Walk of Stars -- Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Carrie Fisher, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, ...
Trump was nominated for producing Miss Universe not his reality TV show, by the way.
The fear quotient must be dripping off the walls...
Wonder how Lanny Davis's qualification that the reported statement that Cohen was willing to confirm
Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting prior to its occurrence--that the notice of it happened in meeting with several other Trump people who KNEW Trump was notified and concurred with its taking place--
That THAT statement did not come from Lanny Davis's office
Now CNN said that COHEN made the statement--not Lanny Davis, the way I heard the story---
So maybe Cohen talked to one of the people he knows in the press or someone Cohen is talking to told the press on Cohen's ok...
It is just a shot across the bow of USS Trump though--
The idea that Cohen might have a RECORDING (not just testimony) of Trump acknowledging his complicit behavior about the Trump Tower meeting is a nuke strike to Trump's immunity from involvement...

I bet if you followed the money TRUMP didn't pay for it--but one of his companies paid for it and called it a business expense so it was a tax write off to his vanity...
Wow. GDP up a huge 4.1%, record low unemployment for blacks and other minorities, food stamp usage at record lows, exports are up 20%, the deficit is down $51 Billion.
The US economy is the envy of the world today thanks to Trump.
The best Loser and Liar Obama could ever do was apologize and tell us we could never achieve these goals.

Wow, that is amazing.
Obama has been out of office for 18 months and all his work to save the economy is still having an impact.
I voted against Obama in 2008 and 2012, but I have to admit, he got the economy back on track. There is very little Trump has done policy wise that's tied to Obama's roaring economy.
The president is speaking now about how great our country is doing but will it be covered on here?
