What I'm finding is you thinking your post has credibility. Once you falsely grouped Trump with conservative you outted your agenda.

The left is against war, they just elect leadership who are for it, right? It all makes sense now.

It's more a matter of the Military Industrial Complex needing to feed the beast.

I just finished a detailed book on LBJ and he hated the war in Vietnam from day one. He brought in "all the Generals" and the Pentagon people and advisors and not a single one could tell him how to get out of it. Most of the military guys just plain lied and said we'd "win" if only a few more 10's of thousands were sent there.

One of the truisms of Political office is that you don't have as much power as imagined. When my wife won a political office, the very FIRST thing the "existing system" did was to hand her a thick book saying what she COULD NOT do. I'm sure even the POTUS can't do many things we'd hope...

But let's remember - it's often the American people themselves that clamor for wars and bombs dropping. Only about 1/4 of Americans ID Democrat (maybe 27% D, 25% R), the rest are independents. So if 70% of Dems are generally anti-war, that's still well less than 1/4 of the population.

The accusations of terrorism are absurd when you look at the statistics. Many terrorist attacks were connected to Saudi radicals, not Iranians.
What Washington calls Iranian terrorism is all related to the unresolved Middle East conflict, where Iran sides with Palestinians whereas SA (an ambitious country that wants to dominate the region) and the US support Israel's violations of international laws.
Despite the mullahs, Iran is a pretty relaxed country actually, much more liberal than Saudi-Arabia.
If there were a willingness to finally settle the Middle East conflict, the Iranian "problem" would go away very rapidly. All it takes is for the Palestinians, Israelis and Lebanese to sit down and solve that mess, which is difficult but not impossible if everyone were willing to make sacrifices.

If Iran does that they would have to scrap this deal in totality and I would see no other choice but for the entire international community to reimpose sanctions themselves. Economic sanctions aside it's an enormous risk with potentially severe military consequences and if I was them I would take Trump on his word for that. I don't see that scenario playing out.

Another potential scenario is they try and play it out with the hand they have been dealt and hold out hopes Trump is not reelected and his predecessor is more inclined to have a bad deal instead of no deal like Obama. Not a very good choice for their economy for at least until the 2020 elections and potentially until the 2024 elections. The only benefit to this is there is unlikely any military intervention. I don't see that scenario playing out either.

The last choice is they come back to the table and renegotiate which seems like the only rationale choice.

First of all, who said ‘disastrous’? That’s your word, not the op’s. Maybe a Freudian slip?

But why don’t you ask these Democrats why this was such a bad deal. They all opposed Obama on this in 2015.

Chuck Schumer
Joe Manchin
Robert Menendez
Eliot Engel( ranking Dem on the Foreign Affairs Committee ).

They broke with their Patron Saint on this vote, something they rarely did. Must have had good reasons to do so. Today, as is the case with almost all Dem politicians, they now all defend the deal, because the mantra of the left is ‘Oppose Trump’, period.

Today’s Democrat politicians are gutless sheep, without a shred of integrity. Thank God Trump is there to bring some sanity to this countries leadership.
