Want to compare the quality of life between Minnesota and Wisconsin, go visit Duluth, MN and Superior, WI.
Just across a bridge from each other but a world of difference between the two. Used to be a running joke on Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon shows.
Not sure what the situation is now though I doubt it has changed, but used to be more bars than churches in Superior. When the smoking ban was voted in Duluth, Superior just said, "You're kidding right?"
The ballet, the symphony, and most of the decent restaurants are in Duluth.
Though they are farther apart, I'll stack Minneapolis up against Milwaukee for quality of life any day of the week.
The ballet, the symphony..... showing you eliteness
Though I will admit that Madison is a sweet college town, it is at oasis. Also, the politics tend to be fairly liberal.
wow, you sound so neighborly
guess we really are not a UNITED states
people like you are one of the problems here in the great ole USA, you look down on your neighbor, instead of offering a helping hand

No. Move to a liberal state/city. Doesn't have to be MN.
Life will be much better for you (and you'll have more money).
.
Sure ! There are plenty of beautiful homes in Detroit that can be purchased for $5k, sure they might need a little work but having more money and a better life will make it work it right ?
Just because it works in one place doesn't make it consistent with others.
You talk in jest, but now actually would not be a bad time to move to Detroit. The real estate market in Detroit has been hot, people are moving in, and is going to fuel the economy and create jobs.
They still have problems but dismiss Detroit all you want; they have a much brighter future than most red area.
.
As long as you pick one of the few hot spots, and you definitely will be paying a premium to purchase a house there. The rest is just falling to shambles.
If it wasn't for Lutheran Social Services taking on these young people until they can get them situated, they'd be adrift in the world.
They do this with adults with significant mental health issues as well.
This may come as some surprise to you, but LSS is not the state government! And LSS has offices, whatever you want to call them, all over the country; not, despite what you may think, just in MN.

Suspicious? That was investigated. It was pilot error, and possibly the pilot not wearing corrective lenses for his vision. Wiki is your friend. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Wellstone
And let me tell you something about that issue. From the Wiki article I referenced: "Wellstone died just 11 days before his potential re-election in a crucial race to maintain Democratic control of the Senate. Campaigning was halted by all sides. Minnesota law required that his name be stricken from the ballot, to be replaced by a candidate chosen by the party. The DFL selected former Vice President Walter Mondale to compete with Norm Coleman in the general election."
My older daughter was a freshman at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN at the time. She voted absentee here in Colorado. The St. Olaf College Democrats were trying to get out the student vote, for Mondale, and were offering rides to the polls, etc. MN has same day registration. My daughter told them she had already voted in Colorado and they told her it didn't matter; she could register on election day and vote for Mondale. Power corrupts and absolute power (as in the DFL in MN) corrupts absolutely.

People carry guns but they don't make a big deal out it. They go to church but they don't shove it down your throat.
Taxes might be higher than other places, but there isn't a lot of complaining. Minnesotans like good schools and a well run state. They don't much care for running in the red and don't mind giving the less fortunate a hand. There but for the grace of God and all.
I've lived all over the country and I'd say that people in Minnesota are the best neighbors ever. Hands down.
What an excuse! The old "that's different"!

As far as Duluth/Superior, that happens a lot with "twin cities", especially when they're in different states. See Omaha NE/Council Bluffs IA. The vast majority of the cultural stuff, etc is in Omaha. I will point out that the population of Duluth is about 4X that of Superior as well. Gimme a break with this idea that everyone in Duluth was on board with the smoking thing, while no one in Superior was.
LOL, Garrison Keillor, that discredited dirty old man.
Does MN have some sort of mandatory re-education course you have to attend when you move there? My daughter moved there a few years ago, and she started spouting some of this drivel. The first time I went to visit her there, I came back thinking "How do these people stand themselves? They're so perfect!" She does seem to be wising up, now that she's been there a while.

Lutheran Social Services is funded by charitable and corporate grants (i.e. Minnesota residents and businesses in Minnesota) and also reimbursed out of the Minnesota state coffers for certain social services.
So your daughter moved to Minnesota and was impressed by the people she met. Hmmm.
Depending on how they were raised, some are amazed to be around people who treat each other decently.
I think this has long been proven but the thing is, I don't care what red states do if they could not affect blue states in any way. We have red states complaining about "socialism" while they collect farm subsidies. We have red states whining about welfare while the top five states in the country on permanent Disability are in West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. Those people can collect money for LIFE.
Red states consider education "elitist". They claim they hold "sincere religious beliefs" until Trump comes along and they scream they didn't elect a pastor. Why are liberals wasting their time with these people? Just exclude them in every possible way until we can mercifully split. Then treat them as illegal immigrants if they try to come to blue states.

So besides more bars and more smokers and the fact that Duluth is quite a bit larger, what are the differences?
In case you missed it, this is the overwhelming conclusion:
Liberals just know how to work an economy and make everybody better and richer.
Conservatives only know how to make the top 5% rich and happy.
.
you sure like to lie don't you. liberals are better at destroying cities than fixing them. conservatives prefer to help everyone out, instead of like liberals, more regulations, help out the illegals more than helping the citizens out.
you are comparing, and measuring Minnesota to Wisconsin with an elitist attitude, instead of thinking about the peers within the other states
sitting their being an elitist saying how much better M is compare to a fellow state of W
