Any wonder this is on the increase.Seems like every other kid is either Bi-polar,has A.d.h.d.,on the autistic spectrum and/or rammed on meds.
Closing asylums where many of the shooters would have been housed.
But no,we closed them to have this wonderful"Care in the community"programme which i think has failed completely. They walk amongst us now.As many people have said before for so many things in todays society, Rinse & Repeat,Lessons learned............
I had ADHD, which I was medicated for.
I'm very glad I wasn't condemned to the nuthouse just because I didn't pay attention in class sometimes.
And so is the government, as they're getting that sweet, sweet tax money from me as a result of me doing pretty decently in life (grad degree, a fulfilling six figure career, happily married, clean record, no debt, ample savings, etc).
I don't even want to think of where I'd be if I was born to a generation that thought the solution to less-than-perfect kids was to lock them away and throw away the key.
Most school shooters have a history of symptoms of serious biological mental illness.
People who allow guns in their homes when an unstable person occupies the home, becomes a contributing factor.
Adam Lanza lived in his mother’s basement and refused food, medication, communication. He was obsessed with violent games, prior school shooters and guns. Obviously his mother was in denial and thought it not so bad.
Students have bullied and been bullied since forever.
Schools are kinder/ gentler environments than ever before.
On the latter... Not exactly. A Broward County official (Florida school shooting) warned in 2015 that being more lenient towards student misbehavior had created a safety issue in the schools.
Very prescient words of warning, from 20115:
Quote:
"Maria Schneider, head of the juvenile unit in the Broward State Attorney's Office, said the program was "a work in progress."
"We've accomplished reducing the arrests. Now it's 'how do we keep that up without making the schools a more dangerous place,'" she said."
Broward officials admit that student suspensions rise and schools get more dangerous when such programs as the "Promise Program" are implemented. Guess why... Teen criminals know they won't get arrested, won't go to jail, won't have a criminal record for any criminal acts anymore. All they'll get is suspended from school. BFD. What teen delinquent doesn't want to not have to go to school in the first place? Sheer stupidity! From the government and adults who are supposed to be in charge.
