With this appointment to the court any far reaching gun control and or bans are effectively gone for the foreseeable future, perhaps a generation. In fact we may finally see national right to carry.

There's an old truism about counting, chickens and hatching.

Yep. We have a lot of people on here who should work on the Psychic Hotline.

It does sound hopeful, although we will still see attempts of bans at the state level though. Even if they keep getting overturned like a couple of the recent ones. The push for gun control will never be dead. As long as there are criminals killing others with guns, there will always be groups that want to push the anti gun agenda.

I agree that the push will never go away, but i firmly believe with the reshaping of the court system (including lower the courts) not only will you see overly restrictive laws blocked / overturned but the increased probability that the Supreme Court actually agrees to HEAR another case on gun rights. Remember....GETTING a case to the court is half the battle.

Given the age of some of the Supreme Court Judges, they could be more vacancies in the short term.

I agree.......... I fully expect Clarence Thomas to announce his retirement in the next 12 months if the senate is held. (And I believe it will be.) I won't speculate on Ginsburg or Breyer.

Correct, because that would oppose what our founding fathers wrote into the foundation of our laws and country. You and I shouldn't expect otherwise, thats the way it was meant to be.

I'm not sure where the middle ground is, but this argument is so backward thinking. Laws written centuries ago are still 100% relevant today - Ok then.
