In April, CIA Director Pompeo stated that WikiLeaks is a "non-state, hostile intelligence service" that is often "abetted by state actors like Russia."

Hours before Mueller announced that the Manafort's deal was off and Manafort's visits with Assange became public, Secretary of State Pompeo met with Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Jose Valencia to reaffirm U.S. commitment to support for Ecuador's efforts for in strengthening democratic institutions.

Now that's interesting.

Nothing funnier than watching the Trump supporters here on C-D doing mental gymnastics and folding themselves into pretzels as they try to downplay major story after major story. Alan Dershowitz himself, long time advisor to Trump and has been defending Donald all this time, said over the weekend that the Mueller report will be "devastating" to the president.

Yet the Trumplings around here, who have no clue what Mueller does or doesn't know, continue to tell us that Special Counsel "has nothing" as if they're also trying to convince themselves at the same time.

I just hope that all the ardent Trump voters around this place don't start leaving en masse once the hammer(s) of justice start nailing Trump and his family.

Bob Mueller is SO much smarter than Donald Trump.

Mueller KNEW Paul Manafort would feed Trump intel, and Meuller KNEW that Trump would lie on his written answers to the SC's questions.

Trump might be guilty of lying to federal investigators.

Assange hasn't gone outdoors for over 6 years now. He could walk around the Embassy courtyard, but the Ecuadorians won't let him. He isn't in solitary confinement, but it's mighty close to it.

He is about the easiest guy in the world to keep track of, and the embassy staff doesn't care about keeping his visitors' names secret. Anyone with credentials can get a list of the names. Roger Stone was on the list, along with several others that have recently been interviewed. So was Paul Manafort.

Manafort may have thought he could get away with telling the investigators half-truths, but he's dealing with a guy who was the FBI Director for 12 years, and has personal connections with the CIA, DHS, and every other security agency in our government. Mueller has ways of verifying everything Manafort said.

Who knows why Manafort lied? There are several possible reasons. There are also several possible reasons why Mueller decided to slam Manafort's hand in the door right now, too.
Best punctuation I can think of to make others in the loop pay attention.

I wonder why the Ecuadorans don't just throw Assange out on the street. Give him 60 seconds to grab his toothbrush and push him out the door.

Manafort's gotten himself into a lose-lose situation. Even if tRump springs him with a pardon he's still at jeopardy for a long list of state charges that would likely imprison him for life, anyway. And he's forfeited just about every asset already. Makes it interesting to speculate on what he's most afraid of; incarceration or retribution from some of those "clients" he's dealt with in his dirty past.

Yep

Part of that plea deal he took was pleading guilty to state charges in three states. Mushroom can't do anything about those guilty pleas.

Bob Mueller and his team are of much higher intelligence than Trump and his team.

Manafort will die in the prison infirmary in Allenwood. A fitting end for a lifelong criminal.

indeed. You've got to wonder, why would Manafort screw up his plea deal and instead choose to rot in federal prison until he dies?

Either Manafort is 100% all in on expecting a pardon from Trump, or he's worried about the safety of his wife and daughter and would rather just die in prison to ensure his family is not harmed by bad people associated with Trump and/or Putin.
