Talk about "divisive". Making an entire group of people think that they shouldn't be subject to the same penalties for crimes as others can only lead to intense racial strife.

Any criminal justice system that doesn't arrest and convict mostly white men simply must be racist. There cannot be any other reason for why it isn't jailing mainly criminal crackers.
Every president since Nixon has disclosed his return, I wasn't holding Nixon up as an example of doing the right thing but that's the only other person that wouldn't disclose his return. Since when do we ask elected officials to release their DNA, that's a new one.
I think that there is fear of intelligent, educated women like Warren, that is why any reasonable discussion of her statements digress into "she's not an Indian" and other immature comments.

Warren made her heritage an issue by claiming to be something she's not. And if she was intelligent as you think, why would she be so dumb to make such an easily disproved claim. Fear? Hardly. Yet we are still waiting on Obama's college records. Get back to me when he allows them to be released, then we can talk about President Trump's tax returns.

Really? Even the most well meaning judges. Did you not read the article I linked to? That's my town (one of them) paper.....please - read it. Then talk to us and tell us what you think of the article and whether you think that has applied elsewhere. If not, tell us why it wouldn't apply in Georgia or Alabama or TN, etc...
If you don't read and study, you don't know. Ranting and asking people to prove something already proven is silly.
Some compelling anecdotes. One of the problems I see in the data is that it doesn't tell me the percentages of white defendants with court-appointed attorneys vs. black defendants with court-appointed attorneys. I have little doubt there is a big disparity there. Also, what are the education levels of the defendants by race? I was just looking at a dissertation that marks education as the biggest factor in the sentences of male offenders. Also, what percentage of whites have dependents versus black offenders? This seems to be one of the factors in the massive disparity in sentences for women vs. men.
I don't buy the instances in which the author describes defendants as having "identical records." I don't know that I've ever seen two offenders have "identical records." Do black offenders typically have longer rap sheets or more felony convictions than white offenders? It seems to me that would be a crucial statistic in this case.

This is new where people have to prove her heritage. College records are not normally released but tax returns have been a standard. She doesn't have to prove anything, she taught at several universities and was respected by both sides in here government positions. But the usual lack of discussion on her point in the thread and the digression into her heritage, when you have no argument always go with "she's not an Indian" that is what passes as intelligent discussion.
