That is the gist of the OP and many other posts in this thread. They're demanding a return to slavery.

I fail to see whats so great about letting people who cant afford cancer treatment die a painful death because they are not a Wall Street big shot. Everyone can chip in with something but it should be relative to their ability to pay. You talk a big game now, but I'm sure you'll sing another tune if you get blind, cant work and have three children to take care of on your own (your wife died). Hell, you might get early onset Alzheimer's as well. Life happens and most have far less control over their lives than they think they have.

That's exactly it. An American pharmaceutical/medical company has different pricing in foreign markets because regulations exist and/or consumers have cheaper alternatives ("CooperVision" would need to lower their prices to remain competitive) ; American consumers are the ones getting fleeced.

once the guv fully takes over healthcare and has to deficit spend to keep it alive (like all other schemes it purports to run) many will be told its cheaper for them to die, remain in pain, not get needed treatments, etc. and they will also find that govt bureacrats are no more compassionate than those employed at insurance co's.
There are many people on this board who live in countries that have UHC, and I have yet to see a single one say they would rather have our system.

But you vote for puppets of big pharma that make it happen. Then you whine about it and sing the praises of the UK system which is HIGHLY regulated.

Would be interesting to see how many Americans believe Medicare is slavery. Its so laughable most people would question the sanity of the people saying it.

The British have analogs of the agencies you listed (MHRA, HMRC, SOCA).
The UK Government has fined pharma companies substantial amounts of the last decades and is currently bringing in new legislation such as the Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Act 2017 to tackle price manipulation and monopoly.

Pfizer was one of a number of Pharma Companies fined in recent years by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

The uk Serious Fraud Office (SFO) were also looking in to GSK, another large company, however there are numerous much smaller pharma companies also involved in dubious dealings.

I will briefly explain how one are of pharma frauds called debranding works;

A drug company makes a drug it passes all the test and is a succesful drug, t is therefore patented for 20 years in order that the company can recoup it's investment and research costs.

After this time the drug becomes what is known as generic, indeed something like 90% of all drugs are generic and the patent has expired.

At this point other pharma companies can but the rights to the drug, and can apply to have the drug debranded, which means the drug is taken off the market and all regulations regarding pricing etc are also stripped away.

The pharma companies then relaunch the drug under a new name, but at a much higher price, indeed the price rises can be up to a 10,000% jump in price, as they now own the rights even though they carried out no research.

The costs are then passed on to the consumer through drug prices and also in the US through medical insurance costs, however the drug company share holders make a massive profit.

That's one of the reasons that many pharma drugs cost so much, although there are other underhand menthods and fraud used by pharma,

Of course it matters who the puppets you vote for are, and what they are doing. I bet it is a big pharma big wig with tons of self serving interests. Do you agree?

I asked the same question to the other people who object to a national health care system. Who are the puppets you voted for in the last Congressional election and lets see if we can find out who their big donors are...
