BTW: Did you notice in the old-woman-cutting-dandelions thread that one of the reasons the fuzz gave to why she got zapped with a taser was because she could have used the knife on herself?
I'm sorry you're subjected to such heartless, ignorant comments.
Why do you enable the irresponsibility that caused the problems in the first place? And that costs those who pay taxes extra money? Do you really not see how your imagined kindness is actually cruelty?
Enabling the victimization of someone who self-sabotages their own health/life is not only repulsively patronizing (it assumes they're too stupid to know any better), it's remarkably cruel to both them and the taxpayers from whom money is taken to pay for the results of their self-sabotage.
Thats such a disgusting comment with no proof at all. You obviously dont understand statistics either. A grown man who was 20 pounds overweight years ago is no proof of anything. He could easily have gotten diabetes even if he was super fit like yourself. You conclude based on your own inability to comprehend facts.
Losing the job and insurance when you get sick and need insurance the most is just another sick and twisted effect of our broken system.
Get a clue. More than 87% of those with Diabetes are overweight or obese. Source NIH. It's not just a coincidence. It's also true that being overweight is the top risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes.
You don't live in a truly civilized society if one can die because he/she does not have enough money. That's atrocious and I would challenge the self-label of "pro-life" for anyone who argues against some sort of guarantee that lack of money will not mean you don't get life-saving treatment. It's like refusing to put out a fire because the homeowner can't pay or refusing to resuscitate someone because they can't pay the emergency service.
Then open up your own wallet and cover the costs. Put your money where your mouth is. The fact that the US left-wingers are too stingy to do so is why there are still unmet needs. They should be giving all their money away to meet those needs.
Sadly, a number of Americans including many here on this board don't support a civil society in thought or deed and if you gave them the choice of a few more pennies in their back account of helping society they would take the former.
Problem with your sanctimonious BS: It's not just "a few pennies." If it were, I'd gladly pay 5 cents in tax each year to fund national health care.
Insurance. When she can't afford the deductibles or co-pays, I VOLUNTARILY help her with the costs.
That's how it should be funded: self-pay or individual or employer-provided insurance, or charities/donations.
Employer provided insurance is subsidized by the government. Employers started offering health insurance when the federal government limited wage increases.
