You shouldn't have to be a "criminal" to be free.

But that's the paradigm of statism.

I know. I know. "It's the best we got"...

BTW: Did you notice in the old-woman-cutting-dandelions thread that one of the reasons the fuzz gave to why she got zapped with a taser was because she could have used the knife on herself?

Why do you enable the irresponsibility that caused the problems in the first place? And that costs those who pay taxes extra money? Do you really not see how your imagined kindness is actually cruelty?

Enabling the victimization of someone who self-sabotages their own health/life is not only repulsively patronizing (it assumes they're too stupid to know any better), it's remarkably cruel to both them and the taxpayers from whom money is taken to pay for the results of their self-sabotage.

Losing the job and insurance when you get sick and need insurance the most is just another sick and twisted effect of our broken system.
Get a clue. More than 87% of those with Diabetes are overweight or obese. Source NIH. It's not just a coincidence. It's also true that being overweight is the top risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes.

Insurance. When she can't afford the deductibles or co-pays, I VOLUNTARILY help her with the costs.

That's how it should be funded: self-pay or individual or employer-provided insurance, or charities/donations.

So, even if a disease is evenly distributed, 75% would match your criteria, right???

In other words, 75% or adult men with MS are overweight.
75% of adult men with the flu are overweight.
75% of adult men with arthritis ave overweight.

I'd say 100% of those with diabetes breath.
Over 87% of those with diabetes are overweight or obese. It's not just a coincidence.

It's like refusing to put out a fire because the homeowner can't pay or refusing to resuscitate someone because they can't pay the emergency service.
Then open up your own wallet and cover the costs. Put your money where your mouth is. The fact that the US left-wingers are too stingy to do so is why there are still unmet needs. They should be giving all their money away to meet those needs.

Problem with your sanctimonious BS: It's not just "a few pennies." If it were, I'd gladly pay 5 cents in tax each year to fund national health care.

I remember a British comedy where two politicians were discussing if smoking was good or bad for the budget.

Employer provided insurance is subsidized by the government. Employers started offering health insurance when the federal government limited wage increases.
