It’s possible the old guard portion of the Royal Kingdom is responsible for the murder of the journalist knowing, the new guard would be held responsible and removed from power.

Whomever is responsible intended for this to be an international spectacle. Why?[/QUOTE]

Yeah, they could have killed him anywhere. Why the international incident? Who gains from this?
Wasn't he killed in a Saudi consulate? If so, that is considered Saudi country and they would have chose that site to prevent being held to laws of another country.

Don't be silly. More likely some combination of Putin, Rouhani and Erdogan... they seem quite chummy lately.

If the plan was just to eliminate Khashoggi couldn't they have simplified things? An old school Mafia hit and run. Gunshot to the head say on a public street. Driver and getaway car. Shooter out of the country in a matter of hours and back to Saudi.

My theory is that the Saudis are behind it.

I may join you, if and when Turkey shows the world their evidence.

Til then, fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

38 pages in this thread - 12 days and STILL not a single piece of Evidence of anything at all.
Perhaps Secretary Pompeo can get these Turks to show him the Evidence.

Few people had ever heard of Khashoggi, who is a Saudi Citizen -- isn't it interesting that there is all this American Hair on Fire about a person nobody ever heard of, a person who isn't even a US Citizen, a person whose disappearance is about to break up alliances between important Nations and could actually start wars over it.

I wonder WHY. I also have to ask -- WHO gains from all this? Who is promoting this story and WHO are the allies of those promoting this story??

Good News is ...... Pompeo knows what he is doing. He's not just the US Secretary of State, he was also the US Director of the CIA.

Your ignorance is showing.

All US Presidents since James Knox Polk have supported dictators and despots, and many have actually installed dictators to rule.

As long as the US benefits from the dictator or despot, it's no problem. It's only when they stray from the path that the US gets riled up and has them murdered or overthrown.

Truman, a Democrat, overthrew the Greek government and installed a despot. Then almost 20 years later, LBJ, another Democrat, overthrew the Greek government and installed a military dictatorship.

All of your Presidents since Polk supported dictators in Central and South America, China, the Philippines, and the Middle East, so long as they didn't tax US corporations, or try to nationalize industries or like President Arbenz of Guatemala, try to compete against US corporations.

So quit acting like Trump is the only one.

You don't even know what the UN is. The UN General Assembly has zero power. All power is vested in the UN Security Council, and unless the UN Security Council specifically invokes Chapter VII, a UN Security Council Resolution is totally worthless, having no weight or affect and is unenforceable under international law.

So, if you're expecting the UN to do something, that's just not going to happen.

You can't handle the consequences of that.

I can easily tolerate a Standard of Living equivalent to the late 1960s or early 1970s, but you and 90% of Americans cannot. You all would be throwing temper tantrums.
