According to military planning documents, about 20 percent of the roughly 7,000 migrants traveling through Mexico are likely to complete the journey. The unclassified report was obtained and published by Newsweek on Thursday. If the military’s assessment is accurate, it would mean the United States is positioning five soldiers on the border for every one caravan member expected to arrive there. ( which will not be before 4 to 6 weeks.)
The report was prepared by U.S. Army North, a component of U.S. Northern Command, which oversees the mission dubbed Operation Faithful Patriot. Military officials, reached Friday, did not dispute its veracity.
The deployment appears to be the largest such peacetime mobilization of active-duty U.S. troops at the border in at least a century.

A: We continue to be concerned about individuals along the caravan route. In fact, over 270 individuals along the caravan route have criminal histories, including known gang membership. Those include a number of violent criminals – examples include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, sexual assault on a child, and assault on a female. Mexican officials have also publicly stated that criminal groups have infiltrated the caravan. We also continue to see individuals from over 20 countries in this flow from countries such as Somalia, India, Haiti, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. There is a large segment of this population that we know nothing about and we must be prepared to defend our border and enforce our laws to protect the citizens of our country.

On October 29, the Mexican ambassador to the U.S. described some of the caravan members as “very violent:” “Unfortunately, some of the people in the caravan have been very violent against authority, even though they have offered the possibility of entering in compliance with immigration law and refugee status.”
On October 30, Mexico’s Interior Minister Navarrete Prida speaking on Radio Enfoque (Focus) 100.1 FM, confirmed that some criminal groups have infiltrated the caravan: “I have videos from Guatemala that show men dressed in identical clothing, sporting the same haircuts, handing out money to women to persuade them to move to the front of the caravan… We know, for a fact, that some members of the caravan threatened [Mexican] Migration Institute personnel and we have images showing many of them preparing Molotov cocktails.”
Just because certain parts are harder, and thus avoided, does not counter my statement. If all the wall was equally hard, it would still be breached given time and no guards

The democrats are after the votes and I have admit it is a good strategy. Trump's action to enforce our immigration laws will be twisted by the media as bigot and racist against the brown people. Brown voters will most likely vote against republicans because Trump is a republican. That is the most stupid reason to vote, but people are what people are.
They are probably using pee for now for the visual effect. Gasoline will likely be provided by the leftwing activist as they get in sight of the border.

That will be up to them. As noted, many have turned back already or have chosen to remain in Mexico. By the time the remnant arrive, six to eight weeks from now, their numbers are likely to be even lower.
You know, it would make so much more sense for our government to support stability and democracy and economic opportunity in Honduras and Guatemala and the other "sending countries", so that people could live safe and productive lives in their own countries and not feel compelled to walk thousands of miles on the slim chance of admittance to ours, rather than to use this sad situation solely for political hay.
But this is Trump's doing, and he will not change. He is incapable of changing or doing the humane, logical, sensible thing. Instead, he's sending troops to the border and cutting off economic aid to Honduras...
Why people continue to buy his crap is beyond me. We need a better educated and informed populace in this country if democracy and basic decency are to survive, and I hope the next administration will make that a top priority.
Honestly, Trump trying to secure our border is the sensible thing to do. His oath is to the citizens of the U.S. not to third world country citizens coming here by the thousands. Not sure why you would think otherwise.
Cutting off aid to a country with a corrupt government makes sense, they're doing nothing to fix their own country.
Lastly no "many" have not turned back. Out of the original 7,000----- 5,000 are still on their way. Three additional caravans are in the process of following or gearing up to come as well. What other country will sit back and allow that?
Aren't there already hundreds of people illegally going across the border every day? Why the hell isn't Trump worried about them.
