The cynic in me says it was not a mistake at all that Trump called on Acosta. It's classic bait and switch on a day where the president knew Sessions was about to go and a day after the GOP lost the House. If you don't want to hear from a reporter, don't call on that reporter. You basically ignore him and make it almost useless for him to be there. How it played out guaranteed it would be news for almost 24 hours now. Pretty much what the White House wanted.
My wife and I were talking about this subject and we thought the same thing the government loves to bait and switch. Keep the people fighting amongst each other.
a grown man, Acosta, put his hands on a white house intern who was just doing her job as directed to retrieve the microphone. the tape of the incident is clear. I hope Acosta is permanently banned from the white house.
They were indeed answered but it doesn't matter. This wasn't a deposition or a trial. There was no requirement to answer any particular questions. The reporter has no right to demand a question be answered.
If Trump had simply said he was tired of people like Acosta not letting others have a turn to ask questions, it would have been easy. Instead they went with a lie.
If Acosta had acted like a respectable member of the press corps, giving up the mic, instead of acting like a tiny baby after taking up 2.5 minutes of the questioning time, we would not be talking about this.
It's pretty funny that right-wingers are suddenly so concered about the White House press corp not getting to ask their questions. So far, I have not seen any reporter claim to be upset at Acosta. Eevn conservative Ben Shapiro said what the WH claims happened did not happen.
But, Acosta's presumpjustedly barraged streams of the dumb false convictions he put in the form of his questions were cogently answered by the President.
Sounds like Trump only wants Faux news to ask their fluff questions. Another assault on the Free press. Amazing that so many righties are okay with anything this control freak does. Trump is a wannabe dictator.

Acosta should have been booted a long time back, simply for the lack of respect for the office of the President. Obama had plenty of tough questions mostly coming from FOX, but they always treated him with respect. Good riddance.
