What does that matter? The fires in SoCal aren't burning in a national Forrest!
It's disconnected logic.
The fires are burning on state and local lands, so how is that the responsibility of the feds?
Please explain.
Many of CA's largest fires do start and burn on federally-managed land. The Camp fire is a recent example.
Sure - not all fires are on federally-managed lands. And your point is? CalFire fights most of those fires - and they do a damned good job at it.
Is your argument that the federal government should never provide support?
Should we not provide federal support for most natural disasters, such as hurricanes or tornadoes?
There's also the general argument that Trump announcing a Tweet like this NOW is a rather heartless and callous thing to do. But - hey, that's, besides the point (even if it shows him to be kind of a crappy leader).
Yeah and him telling California to shape up and take care of this problem is exactly what the President should do. What did Obama do for this problem in his eight years?
And you think bleating and shouting about it on Twitter in the way he does is the proper way a leader should take care of a problem? Sorry, I expect more from a President of any leaning.
^ They are just looking to attack Trump on it. If you didn't bring up these stats they'd be running away with their bashing.
The Leftists are really something else.
He has not similarly bashed Utah, who has similar problems with fires, on Twitter or elsewhere. Why not, if there is some problem and it needs fixing by angry tweets?

They really do need to look into thinning the forests that are prone to fire, which would create lots of tangible lumber jobs.
With the shortage of lumber that business and construction firms had to deal, it would be a good time for the federal government look into thinning fire-prone forests.
This is going on far to long and it's partly because of the radical left and it's environmentalist agenda.
Yup, them too. I default to Utah since I live there and know how we had a lot of fires going this summer, but strangely no castigating tweets were aimed at Utah for having fires happen a lot.
He loves blaming victims and finding some weird reason to find fault, same as the Synagogue killings. What a sad example of leadership, many deaths, homes destroyed and 200,000 evacuated and this is his response.

57% of the forest land in CA is federal. 40% is in private hands including commercial and tribes. Less than 3% is owned by CA or other municipal sorts.
I would expect the overall fire damage to break in about the same order. Do not know of any reputable source though of the ownership of the burned land.

So Trump is threatening to defund the National Forests that happen to be located in the state of California? Or is he going to even further defund the United States Forest Service?
You can't thin a forest that isn't there. As others have said, much of the fire is on land covered by chaparral and dry vegetation like cheat grass which grew like gang busters thanks to some rain in the spring and then promptly died off and turned into excellent fuel for wildfire in the late summer and fall. The state of California is to blame for the on-going drought in much of the Western US?
If you want to assign blame for drought, strong Santa Ana winds and higher than average temperatures, might as well assign blame to Trump for pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords.
What a great leader - berating people in the middle of a terrible disaster and threatening to pull funding for any future help. That's making America great alright. Wrong! Once again a huge FAIL for the Idiot in Chief.
Forest fires........hmmm I know find the hot spots and keep fire-men on duty nearby?
