They really do need to look into thinning the forests that are prone to fire, which would create lots of tangible lumber jobs.

With the shortage of lumber that business and construction firms had to deal, it would be a good time for the federal government look into thinning fire-prone forests.

This is going on far to long and it's partly because of the radical left and it's environmentalist agenda.
Trump is right on this one. They are doing a very poor job in CA of preventing these fires.

These fires are way too common for them to not have the equipment, on hand, and ready to go....to at least try to stop them before they get this big
That's a damned easy thing to say, but double-damned hard thing to accomplish.

What you are trying to throw one simple blanket over isn't at all simple, especially in the west. A federal forest is different from a state forest is different from a private forest is different from a civic forest, and they can all be the same big bunch of flammable trees.

If a fire breaks out on private land, the local fire department is the first responder. But if the fire spreads in 30 minutes into a federal forest, it becomes beyond local control.

The mixed bureaucracies are only a part of the problem. States all have different laws pertaining to property rights, and some states have required fire suppression laws in those laws, while other states do not. This means a fire that starts on a state border that jumps across the invisible boundary of a state line may be fought differently, even though it's all the same big fire.

No one can predict when the perfect conditions will all combine to cause a real blow-up fire anywhere in the nation. On any given day, when humiditiy, wind speed, and fuel supply reach those perfect points, hell will erupt. Period. And hell will come a'roaring.

The west has been in chronic drought for well over 25 years now. Historically, the record shows droughts have lasted in the west for over 200 years.

We are in a period of climate change, so areas that were once very safe from drought will become droughty, while other places will become greener than they have ever been for 3-400 years.

Having the equipment on hand, ready to go, is quite simply an impossible fantasy.

Then let the idiot at the head of the Federal Government make sure that government has the equipment on hand and ready to go to deal with fires on Federal land.

You'd think he'd be willing to give Butte County a break since it voted for Trump in 2016.

So if a forest fire in Texas burns houses what has happened during droughts, would he hold funds from them too? What a freaking moron this man. Next think you know he will threaten to withhold funds in Hurricane prone areas.
I agree. Trump is ridiculous for tweeting this. Very unpresidential and uncalled for. People are losing everything, including their lives. Why would he feel the need to pile on instead of expressing sympathy? He should be promising to help with this disaster, not withhold funds.

Trump's memory fades as soon as he's got what he needs from someone.

Because it doesn't affect him it is unimportant to him.

Feeeeeelllings are so important to virtue signalling Dems. They always talk a good game, don't they? Then do nothing.

Meanwhile Trump has authorized plenty of FEMA cash. But he is right. I think regulations for rebuilding in fire zones should be very strict. California loves regulating residents to death so I'm surprised they haven't done it already. States in hurricane zones should do the same. We saw in Florida how the newer buildings with tighter building codes survived.

California wastes firefighting money by combating fires in the middle of nowhere instead of letting them burn out, only keeping an eye on the perimeter if it gets too close to houses. It's nature's way of regeneration. Many seeds have to be burned so they can germinate.
The problem is drought and high winds. In these conditions, everywhere is a potential fire zone. There is no excuse for that tweet.
