Yeah... we'd only be chasing drug dealers, then. Instead, we are faced with drug cartels AND honest people who want to NOT starve to death the same way. And the drug dealers usually don't get caught.

Well I suspect that the renegotiated NAFTA deal with Mexico might be how Trump will say Mexico is going to be paying for it.
Logically we were going to have to front the cost regardless, as waiting for them to pay in one fashion or another would just add to the delay in getting it started.

As I have said before, a wall will not be subject to the whims of a particular future administration, thus it is one of the few things that can be done today, that was suppose to be done a long time ago. So if a open borders type president gets elected, at least we will have some physical barriers making it more difficult to get illegal aliens, drugs or terrorists into the country.

That's assuming that the wall even gets done before the next administration, even if Trump (ugh) gets reelected. At this rate, its questionable and a future president could let it lapse in upkeep, not staff people, etc. All for a bandaid that *might* solve part of the equation of how a minority of the people get here. Sounds fiscally sound

And if he meant indirectly (questionably) through Nafta, etc, he should have said that. It doesnt make for a good soundbite, though.

20 million dollars a mile basically. 1,933 mile border.... so almost 40 billion. And it will be almost useless. Probably what? 4 billion a year in maintenance. And this is more important then say....medical care for us citizens.

I keep hearing this. In 2017 there were ~ 600,000 unaccounted for visa overstays, mostly student visas. In 2017 there were ~415,000 illegal border crossers (521,000 in 2018 as of Sept.) that were caught so this number doesn't reflect those who were not apprehended.

I see the vast majority of the problem solved by revamping the system that tracks people who are here on visas and using e-Verify to ensure that people are legally cleared to work in the USA.

We're not gonna stop drug dealers and gang members with a border wall.

But in reality, Trump is getting a six-mile fence. Haha.

Um no, Trump only wants the 700 mile long wall built on the most porous areas of our border already approved by congress back in 2006. It never was Trump's wall it was congress' wall. They should be held accountable to fund it and build it.

Which prototype are they going with for these 6 miles, or using an old/in-use design?
