A simple car accident and the cost of putting you back together along with the time in intensive care will also bankrupt the average family.
Unfortunately some people who think it is good to eliminate the ACA, will someday find themselves in the position of potentially saving a family members life and being bankrupted for it, or just letting them die.
That is the system we had before, any major health issue and you would likely become bankrupt long before you could pay all the medical bills.
How much would you pay for 3 extra years of life? A single surgery can be $100,000. You might several.
I don't wish what my family went thru on anyone. But unfortunately that is the world we live in.
Not to worry, the people in these forums who want the ACA eradicated are all filthy rich, didn't you know that? They've been saving for their retirement since they were 3, never made a mistake, only had a child after they had 500k in the bank and they rarely get sick because they lead perfect lives, but if they do get sick, paying out tens of thousands for medical treatment is just chump change; in fact it's the equivalent of a rounding error on their financial statement. I have never visited a forum with so many ultra wealthy right wingers who live perfect lives and have no need for health insurance of any kind.

Why, Don't the writers of ObamaCare worry they'll get sick, too?

Actually for some cancers, surviving 5 years can easily run a million or two. I figured the cost for 8 years was over 3 million. Without ACA my family and extended family and her family and extended family would have spent everything we had to give her those extra days of life.

When it is your own decision, it is amazing what people will do just for the hope of a few more days of life. Life is precious.

I'm sorry to say that you speak of a lot of truth there.

Join a union, which republicans despise, because they look out for the middle class....great pay and benefits. Republicans look after the rich.

It's been tried ..... John McCain saved it after promising to abolish it.

I don't think a Democrat-led House will go for a repeal.

Except the Democrats gave us the ACA in the first place.

Many are finding it unaffordable these days.

It would make a lot more sense to make improvements to the law than to tear the entire thing down. I don't see what that accomplishes.

Bam - the insurance company can refuse to pay your claims and kick you off the policy if the claim is big enough. They'll pay for your broken arm but if you get something serious like cancer, expect to be canned by your insurance company pronto.
Some people were forced to pay $1000+ each month because of Obamacare, other people were priced out and lost their insurance. So why is it you think they would care?
