Turns out, according to all the information provided by middle age mom, that this is not just TX. It's in red and blue states, and is being pushed by Dems and Repubs.

Anyone who claims this is only "the GOP", hasn't read this thread and the information that has been provided since I started it. I did not know, when I started this, that it was all those states, but the information has been provided here over several pages in this thread.

At least we found an issue both sides generally agree on. Savor the moment.

Total lie. The contract doesn't require her to do anything or support anybody.

Who is compelling anybody's speech?

Do a little research. It's to prevent citizens from undermining US foreign policy.

Yes, it does. It requires her to stop boycotting products from Israel. It's her personal choice to boycott those items and buy from elsewhere.

As was pointed out, this also affected those who needed help after hurricanes - they had to sign this garbage before getting any assistance.

Stop supporting this - I don't care if you are one of those who fawns over Israel at every given opportunity, this is absolute BS!

Yes. I would prefer to use the word "wrong" but why quibble?

The federal proposal was to be attached to the spending bill this week but we will have to wait until next week.

Quote:
One of the more contentious issues involving Israel in recent years is now before Congress, testing America’s bedrock principles of freedom of speech and political dissent.
It is a legislative proposal that would impose civil and criminal penalties on American companies and organizations that participate in boycotts supporting Palestinian rights and opposing Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.
The aim is to cripple the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement known as B.D.S., which has gathered steam in recent years despite bitter opposition from the Israeli government and its supporters around the world.
The proposal’s chief sponsors, Senator Ben Cardin, a Maryland Democrat, and Senator Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican, want to attach it to the package of spending bills that Congress needs to pass before midnight Friday to keep the government fully funded.
