Full of fear, no surprise. Mentioned a few cases of illegal immigrants committing murders, did not talk about Americans committing murders. He was calmer than I expected, with the exception of the sniffing, and he didn't seem to have much trouble reading tonight (other than the monotone voice and intense concentration), which is better than I can usually say.
I'm disappointed. I was expecting fireworks since Pompeo had indicated it would surprise people or something didn't he? But it was a great speech, common sense, facts, he was very Presidential. I wonder what opposition media are saying.
I watched it--I wanted to see his eyes. He was actually not looking into the audience--he was looking to a camera on the side weirdly and reading every word without sounding like he believed it--you could see his eyes moving, like he just got this screed 30 minutes ago. Miller probably wrote it with Jared. It sounded somewhat high-schoolish.
Schumer's response should have been the same as Steve Schmidt's -

Every time he stays on the script he has that. I wonder what he takes.
Maybe, because I have it on. That said, I've and others have said a lot of that on City-Data before without being a "CNN viewing NPC." Hell, one of Trump's points that I had scratching my head was a previous City-Data thread about why are Democrats against the wall when he have walls around their houses.
I doubt any minds were changed by either presentation.
Ditto.
I did like how P&S emphasized the need to separate the shutdown from the border security discussion. I wish they’d have included more data about how drugs are really coming into the country. I’d have preferred more numbers/data.
What a waste of time. THIS is what he used a prime time presidential address for? To repeat the same old lies? There was absolutely nothing new there that merits it.
umm..what lies? Don't worry I will give you a few minutes to cut and paste the DNC talking points you got from dailykos
After Shumers response, I would not trust him to negotiate in good faith if the government we're to reopen. Trump had weak facts to back up his position, the Dems had no facts at all to back up theirs.
I wouldn't trust a Democrat for anything after I saw what they did during the Kavanaugh hearings. It was clear the lengths to which they would go then.
