It's not even remotely the same. The baker is a private citizen and as owner of that private establishment should be able to refuse service to anyone for anyone reason, at least IMO. Similarly to Davis he should be able to dictate to his employees who they will and will not serve. If owner says you will or will not serve gays that should be his prerogative.
This lawsuit was not about two gays being deprived their rights. Mrs. Davis was targeted just for the purpose of this suit. This gay couple was instructed to go to Davis' county and do this to get a result.
It's the same with the Christian baker. The leftwing powers-that-be sent a gay couple there, knowing they would be refused, in order to start a lawsuit.
Leftwingers are never honest. That's what they all have in common.
It was 4 couples all residents of Rowan county. When getting a marriage license you tend to go to the office in the county to get one. When I got married I went to the court house to get a marriage license, no one had to direct me because that is the only place in town to get a marriage license.
Why should residents and taxpayers of Rowan county be required to go to another county to get a marriage license?
hmm, Did I miss where $225K suddenly morphed into 2 million?
And it's $225K for the legal fees of 4 couples. This isn't some jackpot payout for the couples, it's paying for services that were needed because of the actions of Davis.

No, gay couples from elsewhere descended on Rowan County to try to get married.

No the sanctimonious hypocrite was an elected official who placed her own personal views above the laws she was elected to represent. She chose to deny these individual their rights, she chose to deny anyone else from doing their job, she knowing lied when she took her oath of office and failed to uphold that oath.
Don't paint her as victim because her justification is her alleged faith, she consciously chose to do what she did and deserves what has happened to her. There is no law that requires gay couples to utilize urban/liberal locations if they choose to marry.
If only Eichmann's lieutenants at Auschwitz had not followed what you just said. Do you people hear yourselves?
If you are a baker and do not want to bake a cake for someone so be it. If you own a company and do not want to provide health benefits because of your religious beliefs have a blast. Neither of these examples directly impose your religious beliefs on others.
That's not the case with Davis. Your rights to religious freedom end when you are trampling all over the rights of others.

"Each and every plaintiff is a resident of Rowan County," the couples said in their lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Ashland. "They live, work, vote and pay taxes in Rowan County. Each and every plaintiff wishes to obtain a marriage license from their home county without having to suffer the indignity of securing a marriage license from another county due to defendants' unlawful and unconstitutional policy."
I hope the folks whose rights were violated are not traumatized for life- poor babies!
