Democratic socialism has little to do with being Democratic.

Freebies are the selling point. The youth are in debt up to their eyeballs after being sold the con of worthless degrees (and even the few with meaningful degrees are still largely in debt), so many of them will vote for whomever promises the biggest bailout. The funny thing is the vast majority of individuals running this higher education con today at colleges and universities ensnaring the youth in record debt are on the far left. The answer they give students who are mad with no prospects with their first worthless degree is to go get another worthless advanced degree.

Aside from a few areas of study that will produce real-world results, people need to start demanding the federal government quit lending money for all of these worthless degrees out there. It will force the higher education system to cutback on their con game. Everyone will be paying for this nonsense in the end.

But for some reason the only examples Russian trolls like the OP (and Fox News) care to proffer are Venezuela and Stalin. Well, if I were a Russian troll I guess Stalin would be the first person who came to mind. He probably starved the OP's great great grandma, babushka and all.
Please stop and Get your fact straight. Sweden is not a socialist country. They tried that and it was miserable.

They have competition everywhere. School for example. Parents are give vouchers so they can send their kids to better school instead of bad local school. This force school to complete.

US teacher unions and their cronies will never allow this. Just look at how bad schools are in this country. It is not about the money, it is accountability, which there is none. It is not lack of money, in many cases, many districts spent more money on pupil that it would cost to send the student to elite private school and they still failed the student.

School is just one example of why socialism don’t work. No competition and full of red tapes.

The straight facts are that Sweden incorporates a little socialism into their capitalism just like I think we should. It's not all or nothing despite the slanted news you might watch that tells you so.

Don't we have charter schools and private schools? Sweden also pays for child care.

Honest question here: Why are Americans quick to point out the failures of other systems of government and religions like; Socialism, Islam, communism etc., but we are hard pressed to fault; Capitalism, Christianity and Democracy for some of the staggering statics in American society?

You should say some Americans. Clearly a whole bunch of us have no problem identifying the issues that face our society. And we are free to do so, which is something.

Yes we acknowledge the problems, but how many of us are willing to suggest that Christianity, Democracy, and Capitalism may be the cause of these problems and not the solutions to the problems? Perhaps we should make assessments of Democracy based on American society circa 1938.

Capitalism, Christianity, and probably democracy have been on the decline in America for decades. And now you see the results. Enjoy.

Capitalism is putting all the money into the hands of the 1%. That's exactly how it is SUPPOSED to function. Sounds like you'd prefer to see some regulation. Me too.

Christianity is on the decline? Holy men have not done a lot, as a whole, to promote their causes have they? Too many of them are child molesting monsters and their bosses have let it happen. That's on them and good riddance I say.

Not happy with democracy myself these days as it led to the buffoon in chief. But we'll survive him. Fear not.

What you described is socialism. All of the wealth and resources are controlled by the politically connected, the bureaucrats, the elites, etc. You need to learn what it is you are talking about before preaching and spreading misinformation to others.

What we have today in the USA is "crony capitalism". Socialism for the rich, and crumbs for everyone else. Thank Obama. We could be a free country again, but it would require unity in pursuing a common goal, something the powers that be would never allow.
