That is discrimination....because to bring something into focus is to take other things out of focus. Now if you want the government and white people to play and role in the RESPONSIBILITY....then by all means....you are invited to the meetings.

Of course the person that is elected will be serving all the people of the city. THus, it would be wrong for the person elected to have a "black only meeting" about the city, when the city has many races. However, if black people of the city want to get together and decide what is the best course of action for black people.....that is called taking responsibility for black people and again....why do whites or the white press need to be there?
Using your logic, I’m inclined to agree with you. I’ve always thought it condescending to the black race to pander to them insisting that only others could fix the issues they face.

I can’t believe it, but I agree with you on this. More power to them. I think members of any race press could have been allowed to cover for their stations though. But only if they were true journalists and covering the issues discussed, no slant or opinion piece.

Here’s a local article. Church and politics should not mix.

I agree with this. The meeting was a private gathering of citizens, not an official governmental event. They can invite or disinvite whoever they choose.

However . . . if we should have an occasion when a white church invites only white people to a meeting to coalesce behind a single white candidate for mayor, in an effort to ensure that the next mayor is a white person, and prohibits black reporters from attending . . . then please remember what you're written here.

It's not "My logic"....its just LOGIC. Once you create a FOCUS, it becomes inherently biased and discriminatory. To expect blacks to focus on solving the issues of blacks means blacks being biased and discriminatory to favor blacks. When people tell blacks to take responsibility for our problems....they are not really thinking it out what that means if applied. You can't expect blacks to take responsibility and then claim "reverse discrimination" and or "double standards".....because whites are not allowed to do such.

Black people trying to help black people improve runs against the laws set up to prevent racial discrimination, which was a force that crippled the black community for centuries. Now those same laws that help protect blacks from being crippled further by racial oppression.....are helping to prevent the type of racial FOCUS that is needed to repair blacks from the crippling impact of past racial oppression.

Black oppression came via a FOCUS on denying blacks freedom, rights, opportunities, fairness, etc. How can that be resolved without an equal and opposite FOCUS? In other words, why does America focus on black problems yet expect their not to be a focused black solution to those problems? Ergo, black people have lots of problems.....but you can't put any focus on blacks to resolve those problems. WTF

I appreciate that you find agreement with the logic....but its not MY LOGIC. Its just what is logical.

No....YOU need to remember that every action creates an equal and opposite reaction.....and that the continuum started with whites acting this way first, for over 90% of the history of our being over here. Those actions of whites accrued a legacy of socioeconomic racial inequality that now blacks must try to recover from, a task that result is the equal and opposite reaction of blacks attempting to favor black to undo the damage created from discrimination against blacks.

When I see whites wanting to gather for whites only......I see it as a gathering to attempt to preserve your position of socioeconomic superiority.....which can only be maintained if some other race remains inferior, for superiority can only exist if there is inferiority. Black people are an a position of socioeconomic inferiority and gather to promote socioeconomic PARITY....EQUALITY, by lifting themselves up to be equal with others. Thus...yeah....I will have a problem with whites gathering to promote the continuation of white superiority.

"Organizers of a meeting to discuss an upcoming mayoral race in Georgia barred reporters from attending — unless they were African-American.

The Wednesday meeting at a church in Savannah was held to try to unite the city’s black community behind a single candidate for mayor in the Nov. 5 election. Signs at the door said “Black Press Only!”

White reporters were denied entry, while at least two black reporters and the publisher of a local African-American newspaper were allowed inside, the Savannah Morning News reported . Television cameras and recording devices were also prohibited."

Just more proof of what i have said for years. The Democratic Party has always been a refuge for racists and bigot, who wanted to use government to act on or promote their racist and bigoted policies, views and opinions.

The irony here, totally invisible to a few, is how poorly black politicians have served black communities. So this is really just one more example of how the black community continues to destroy itself.

Yeah...right. Thugs in the streets have guns and plenty conservatives fear thugs and violence. Thus, what do the conservatives do? They get guns to be able to apply equal and opposite violence to protect themselves.

People will resort to using the means that threatens them......to protect them. If violence threatens you, you attempt to secure yourself with instruments of violence. If discrimination threatens you....you attempt to secure your self with discrimination. It's what people do. Had you not spent centuries discriminating against blacks.....there would be no need for blacks to feel that they need discrimination to repair and protect themselves. It's not rocket science. Actions create equal and opposite reactions.

Segregation and discrimination by skin color seems a rather odd way of "taking responsibility".

You sound like a person who wants to have his cake and not share with other but have an issue if others do the same and refuse to share it with you. What is mine is mine, and what is yours is mine.

All this nonsense about whites gathering to preserve their socioeconomic superiority and keeps blacks down is hogwash. It took a long time for the country to strip off its "whites only" signs. Please don't encourage its being brought back by introducing "Blacks only" signs.
