Americans in general look absolutely gross compared to back then. Not saying I am the best looking person but collectively it's strange how far America has fallen since back then.
So many average looking people back then would be better looking than today's super models. Lack of words for how good looking Americans used to be.
Will be interesting if trends continue by 2030 what America will look like then. Obesity and ailments associated with it are likely to cause healthcare infrastructure to collapse in a decade.
What about the sorority and spring break crowd, in their swimming costumes and who spend their whole lives preening themselves.
The SJW's are not generally the good looking sorority and jock type college students, nor do they have the brains of the nerds who go to MIT and set up online companies and apps making them incredible rich later in life.
The SJW's just seem angry at life itself, and the rise of tattoos and body piercing/body modification has made people intentionally make themselves ugly, whilst there are numerous reasons for the rise in obesity rates, and these problems are not unique to the US.

These people are slimmer but certainly not the most good looking. It’s likely that the food they ate was better but they birthed many of the unhealthy people that exist today. So they didn’t always pass on the best genes or habits.
People are devolving no doubt but why? What has happened in the last 50 years in America that would cause this?
didn't you read the others posts?
Corporate control, marketing, etc. of fatty and sugary foods.....which are a drug to our minds and bodies.
Other small things have happened also. If you didn't have power windows or a garage or power locks, just those small actions (yes, rolling a window up and down, and scraping ice off your windows, etc.) used up calories and built muscles. When things are not A/C your body uses calories to cool or warm itself.
That many be the smaller part of the picture....unlimited calories being fed are probably the largest part.
But, basically, it's the "free market". More money is made by feeding you crap and then charging you (plural) for more medical care.
I don't think these are all that great looking. I know a lot of younger people who dress very classy and beautiful/handsome. Depends on your crowd I guess.
Also most of the pics were at special occassions. I doubt most people today at special occassions would be dressed poorly.
People show up at the airport or train station wearing pajamas today. They care more about their comfort than their appearance.

True but it's not like this is a new thing.
The OP link's pictures are of a college. Most pictures I have seen of 1900-1960s everyday life, most people were not dressed that nice and many were in rags, kids didn't have shoes, and there was all sorts of poverty. The pictures in the OP are basically a slice of life from a privileged class in the 1950s.
