It is not the leftists actually making that claim. Any time a rightist here says 'California is socialist' or 'California is becoming socialist' or some such tripe, what they are actually referring to is a liberal capitalist state like Denmark, not "socialism," because California is most certainly NOT socialist anymore than Denmark is. So the leftists here (myself included) simply play the game the rightists are playing, and call Denmark 'socialist' because the rightists call California 'socialist.'

I think the longer we continue to support our dysfunctional healthcare system the more people will support socialism. Healthcare is the number one most attractive thing about socialism, and it seems by the day we discover more and more that our system taking care of us is more a byproduct than the objective. People are only going to take so much of being left out. If you truly wish to not see the things you mentioned the focus must be on bringing our people up, and that's everyone. If everyone is benefiting tremendously from the System as our per capita GDP of $62k suggests there'd be less support for alternative forms of government.

I have yet to have any teacher push their "socialist" agenda on me if anything it's always the delusional 70 year old conservative who tries to convince us that the civil war was not fought over slavery.

Ha! I just gave it "over 99%".

Remember, it isn't socialism if the State is running the scheme to my liking.

Oh, stop the whining already. The USA became socialist in 1933, when people accepted that government could TAKE from one to GIVE to another. That abolished private property - the keystone of the communist manifesto.
The one saving grace - participation via FICA is 100% voluntary. No law compels participation - no law punishes non participants. But via fraud millions BELIEVE that FICA is mandatory. In fact, they compel parents to enroll infants before they leave the hospital.

So stop whining. Either read the law and withdraw consent, or muddle along, heads bent, little sheeple.
