Now this has to be the funniest comment of the thread. No one shops at Walmart anymore?.., but please ignore the $4,000.000.00 AN HOUR the Walmart family makes.

What they need to do is rescind the open carry laws. The only people who open carry their weapons are sexually inadequate or confused right-wing lunatics who seek to intimidate their neighbors. These psychopaths are in need of serious psychogical counseling and should not be any where near anything that can harm themselves or others much less assault weapons.

Sort of interesting that 10 and 20 years ago when folks like myself were noting how Walmart destroyed Main Street, made government go in debt (to pay for the benefits their low-paid employees qualified for) and such...."conservatives" often shouted us down saying that they and all the other people NEEDED those low low price.

Fast forward to today and Wally World is the #1 Chinese goods importer BY FAR having forced most of their American vendors to go overseas or lost their business. In the meanwhile, the Family (Waltons) have paid for "tax cuts" through their lobbying groups - tax cuts which often (inheritance) only affect themselves.

Now they are bad bad bad for caring about guns and ammo and carrying.....

What corporation will be the Right Wing's new Hero? Kochs? Amway?

Or, are they finally coming around to the liberal way of thinking - that unlimited corporate power destroys Main Street while helping mostly Wall Street?

I'll tell you what this liberal would do. Given the choice - anytime - between Wally World paying $12 an house and Costco that pays their employees over $20, I'd show at the later. Because those employees are my fellow Americans and I'd rather they make a living....and be treated like human beings.

Whether or not that new Flat Screen costs $192 or $197 is really not important to most of us.

I'm one of those apparently rare people who doesn't disfavor Americans and English speakers in favor of foreigners.

Oh plenty of people do, but like I said they appear to scooped off the streets of the third world from around the globe, handed a food stamp card and dumped inside your local Walmart.

When I decided to stop shopping there it was a combination of issues.

1) Regularly out of stock on grocery items.
2) Inferior quality meats. Their steaks just don't taste right to me compared to other stores.
3) They never ran sale items. There "Always low prices" just wasn't true a lot of the time.
4) Their beer selection was limited. I enjoy trying different types of beer and Krogers/Publix regularly has something new on the shelves.

As far as the rest of the items? They just don't last. Unfortunately I am forced to shop online for general merchandise due to my location. (unless I want to drive 100 miles round trip). I tend pay more for quality goods but they last much longer than the junk at wal-mart.

Oh yes; I don't like crowds either. In my rural area it seems as if a trip to Wal-mart is a "Family outing". It is frustrating when the whole family decides they need to all go down the aisles and stop in a group.

It's all ammunition that is being discontinued. The gun that the ammo goes into doesn't matter.

I think it's a smart move, considering the butchery at the WalMart in El Paso.
If the shooter had been able to get at the ammo in the store, he could have continued shooting all day long.

A lot of these mass shooters only stop when their ammunition runs out. That's the time the cops wait for and make their move.

The longer a shooting goes on in a WalMart, the greater the loss. Even when all the people are evacuated, if the shooting continues on, the bullets are damaging a huge amount of stock, hardware, fixtures, and other stuff that will all have to be replaced.
Five minutes of a gunfight could result in the loss of hundreds of thousands in goods for WalMart. 4 hours of gunfight could result in a store's closure for a month or more to replace and repair.

Of course, the people are by far the most important, but WalMart must watch its bottom line, and a mass shooting is terrible for both.

The El Paso WalMart has probably been all repaired by now, a month later, but ask yourself:
Would I happily choose to go to WalMart now to buy my kids some school clothes?

Or would you think another mass shooter may strike again at the same store?
