I know this is against the indoctrination but an interesting read for those not completely entranced by Marxism...

North Carolina MD's affordable MRI center prohibited by state legislation
After Gajendra Singh, MD, was quoted $1,200 for an ultrasound at his local hospital’s outpatient department, he decided to open his own low-cost imaging center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. But that’s where his problems began, Vox reported.
A recent profile detailed Gajendra’s struggle with the state’s “certificate of need” law, which has barred him from buying a permanent MRI machine. He skirted the law by rending a mobile MRI unit, but the move has undercut his plans to offer MRI for as little as $500. Vox reported he has filed a lawsuit in North Carolina Superior Court challenging the legislation.
Such laws have been found to protect hospitals from competition, Vox reported. At one point, 49 states once had certificate of need in place, but 14 have overturned them.
I don't really care what kind of plan they choose for the uninsured as long as they don't take away private insurance. Illegals shouldn't be able to get it either, although we pay for them when they go to the ER anyway.
sorry OG. Americas corporate interests took over healthcare long before 25 years ago. 25 years ago we were on an unsustainable path... we were just 25 years earlier than we are today on that path.
that path started in the 70s when democrats divorced the patient from the payment. HMOs and insurance companies negotiating with drs happened way back then and THAT is exactly what has led to this mess.
The fix is to put the dr and patient back into direct contact on the payment front. Insurance companies (and government) should not be involved in that at all.
Guess a pretty simple and easy health insurance set up...
Pull Government out of regulating health insurances
Have opitions for private insurance either U.S. base or from another country
Also have the option of health savings account or flexible savings account
Then have the option of a Government Healthcare plan that covers 90% of health services and so forth. Rest is put of pocket. Covers 100% of generic pharmaceuticals. Three tier for non generic medications (80%, 85%, 90%). To be eligible have to be a U.S. citizen or pay income taxes. Monthly premium is 10% of monthly pay.
Then a 65% coverage of care for those who need care at any time but have no insurance. Available to all.
Do away with Medicaid.
100% care for those 70 and older who are U.S. Citizens, a dependent of a U.S. citizen, or has a VISA.
i tend toward separating government from regulating insurance... in most parts I agree. but i want a law that prevents insurance companies from negotiating with drs.
