Everyone else's solution is to either A) give the government more power, or B) "just get the right people in power who won't be corrupt"...

Since A will never fix the problem, and B is extremely naive, the remaining option is to reduce the power the government has.

Unfortunately, people hold out on this false hope that they can somehow have all this power to control society and it won't be used to favor a small group at the expense of everyone else.

It's never happening, ever, unless you replace humans with angels.
I agree.
But the wealthy want a large powerful government.
The billions they spend is proof and it takes a large powerful government to reward them.

Everyone pays those taxes.
The wealthy do not eat those taxes. They include the costs in products or services they sell.

I want a smaller less powerful government, the wealthy do not.
That is why government expenses never go down regardless of what party is in power, because that money is ear marked for special interests.

Right, maybe you should do the opposite of what the evil rich wants - giving the government less power.

The way to do that is by voting for Republicans not the democrats.

Lol
Republicans and Democrats are the same when it comes to government spending.
The only difference is what special interest gets the money.

They cut one program but then earmark the freed up money to another program.
That is how these criminals play the game.

Correction. They think politicians who have already been bought off are their solution.

As long as our elections involve donors and PACS, and there are no term limits, that 1% has way too much control and influence over the government, and hence, us. That is never good.
