People do have the choice to be like them. It's simple....move there! I lived in Europe for several years I can assure you that it is NOT some panacea! I can think of many measurable statistics where they don't "measure up" to us!

Someone wants it they can pay for it. And look how many people were attracted to auto manufacturers who provided them before they were mandatory. They attracted the people who wanted them. That's what competition does. Insurers lowered insurance rates for cars with seatbelts. That was another incentive.
Plus when they became mandatory on cars many people didn't use them.

How far are you going to take it? You going to push for America to have fitness limits on individuals and fine them for being overweight too? Japan does and look how many healthy people they have.

The United States is essentially an Empire (hence the name) that covers the better part of the inhabitable space on an entire continent. It isn't a homogeneous, small State like those that characterize Europe. Its an apples to oranges comparison. Their nations are essentially the size of our States on average. Neither federal taxes nor the average business would ever be able to cover that, nor should they.

AOC is a waitress and she thinks with the political and economic aptitude of one.

Parental leave is often unpaid, so it's often useless in terms f those struggling to pay the bills and a child is yet another expense.

Parents are entitled to a couple of weeks paid leave in the UK and up to 18 weeks unpaid leave.

What’s in this for those workers who do not spawn children? Should they just accept that they will do more work while mommy and daddy go on their baby vacation? What about women workers who are always getting pregnant? Why would any sane employer want to hire any woman of child-bearing age when they would get this extra headache ?

All things being equalish, a good reason not to hire a woman of child bearing age. Toss in #metoo concerns and you may have another reason.

I had a female coworker who said in all seriousness that women should get more sick leave than men because they have more things that go wrong. Another reason?

That said, I cant imagine being away for 2 weeks and trying to catch up and get back into the routine, much less months.

Can we give the couples who either can’t or won’t have children this paid time off as well? We’ll call it Phantom Child Leave. Ya’ know, just to be fair.

Your taxes will pay for parental leave of MALE and FEMALE Federal employees including adoption and foster parenting leave, beginning 2020.

Nothing prevents MALES and FEMALE Federal employees from engaging in unprotected sex during the 12week paid leave.

Marriage is not a prerequisite for eligibility.

Trump and First Daughter, Ivanka campaigned on a platform for paid parental leave.

Paid family leave , where applicable, includes MALES and FEMALES and is not limited to married people.
