They were beaten on the battlefield. But they were still fighting.

Russia even observed the sanctions on Iran.

Regarding Syria, there has been slight friction between Iran and Russia, my opinion is Putin is glad Soleimani is dead, as he had a much higher influence on Assad than Russia had, thus creating some issues.

Russians prefer a dictator like Assad then Islamic fundamentals which is why the middle east was better off with Saddam. China and Russia like to push back on US military action like Libya it was the only reason Obama and Hillary Clinton were not able to do the same with Assad.

The Italians, Germans and Japanese were broken. They lost the will to fight. That's not to say that some German and Japanese soldiers continued to fight, but for civilians, they gave up, and many in the military gave up as well.

You are delusional. You want war to satisfy your thirst for war-porn, but such strategy would certainly NOT resolve the issue.

Keep humping Trumps leg. It is your patriotic duty.

Years back I remember reading about an Air Force concept project where B 52 and B1 bombers would be re engineered into flying battle ships. Total stand off platforms capable of launching all sorts of weapons for all purposes and also able to work as ECM and AEW platforms.

Author Dale Brown wrote a bunch of fiction novels on this. Pretty cool stuff. As things really are the Buffs and Beemers can cause Iran some serious nightmares. Twixt them and what the Navy can put up any need for a ground invasion would be made useless.

We wouldn't even need to get into Iranian airspace to do heavy heavy damage. The Navy could take out pretty much all of Irans defensive radars and SAM sites and the door would be open for the Air Force further supported by the Navy to smash things at will.

The Navy could go duck hunting in the Strait for whatever Iran has in the water too. If it comes to a real head butting contest Iran could be rendered insignificant very quickly.

I think Iran is probably looking at soft civilian targets more than real military ones. Hoping large civilian casualties would cause us to back down. This would certainly be to the left in the USs take on things.

They would howl like banshees for the US to give Iran whatever they want. Classically this is what has happened. Appeasement policy.

I really am not advocating wiping Iran off the map, just positing a tactical strategy for removing their nuclear weapons and delivery capabilities from their current fanatical religious leaders who constantly call for 'Death to America' and the total destruction of Israel IF diplomacy fails.

Not years back - it's already happening!

Military.com: Plans for Pentagon's Future Flying Bomb/Missile Truck Take Shape

One possible weapon is the AGM-183A Advanced Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW, pronounced “Arrow”) a hypersonic rocket that has a top speed of a mind-blowing Mach 20! This makes it up to four times faster than Russian and Chinese hypersonic weapons!

Another are massive swarms of drones!

And yes, no need for boots on the ground or pilots entering Iran's airspace as most attacks will be carried out from a stand-off position by cruise and hypersonic missiles, mostly launched by B-52s, B-1s, and attack submarines.
