Did you know it’s a federal crime to “structure” bank transactions so as to avoid reporting requirements? A few years ago a fellow named Obama and another guy named Kerry decided to offer some folks in Iran a deal. The guys in Iran said OK, but we want a cash payment of €400 million as part of the deal.
Obama and Kerry used their positions of power to transfer over $400 million to EU banks, but there was one snag, anything over $100 million had to be published as a public record. What did they do? They transferred the funds in amounts just under the reporting threshold — IOW they illegally structured the transaction. The plane carrying the neatly-stacked pallets of Euros landed in Tehran.
We’re they accused of any crime? Hell no, in fact all we heard was how clever they were in getting this deal done.
So spare us your sanctimonious blather about legalities.
nice deflection but it just doesn't work. If what you are claiming is true, the Right would have launched another 2 year long investigation as they did with Benghazi.
Wild accusations that have been proven, that continue to have evidence surface to support them, that have been reviewed by the GAO, and a crystal clear explanation of WHY it was illegal has now been given for all those who have ignored, or refused to believe the exact same explanation all along?
How on GOD's GREEN EARTH can you still sit there and act like there is no merit to these charges? How many people have come out and said point blank that POTUS knew, and was lying, and you guys still act like there is nothing but an unfounded accusation.
Whether he did it with intent, or due to his ignorance of the law, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR he broke the law.

The aid to Ukraine has never been frozen. That's a tremendous lie from the illusionist left. Mandatory drug screen test should be stablished for all politicians every 6 months in order to keep their positions in the Hill. That is the effect of the liberalization of marijuana that they both yearn for and promote.

English 101... it says "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors"
Which means that impeachable crimes are:
1. Treason
2. Bribery
3. High crimes
4. Misdemeanors
Yes, English 101 says that a misdemeanor, such as stealing a candy bar, is an impeachable crime.
In fact, as everyone knows, not even actually stealing the candy bar is a crime: One can merely attempt to steal a candy bar, and it is a misdemeanor. Like, "attempted murder" is a crime.
So, even if we acknowledge the thing about the deadline, Trump attempted to withhold the Ukraine aid. The only reason he finally let it be transferred to Ukraine was because he got wind of the whistleblower's report. In other words, he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Nothing was illegal - as the aid had to be paid by the end of September. So nothing was really delayed as the funds were released within the terms of the deal.
Only after he was caught leveraging the money for his political gain!
The Democrats are unable to defeat Trump at the ballot box this fall and they know it. None of their candidates has what it takes. What's worse (for them), Trump's popularity among Blacks and Hispanics is rising; still just 20-30% by recent polls, but if 25% of Blacks vote for Trump, the Democrats will lose for sure.
Also, his popularity is rising among moderates and independents fed up with partisan politics and the obvious failure of Democrat policies in coastal California, Detroit, Baltimore, etc.
The only thing the Democrats have now is impeachment. Thus, they're putting literally every word and action of the President under a microscope, trying to gin up a crime based on some technicality or other. His conversation with the Ukraine leader was probably not the smartest thing he's ever done, but the aid was not affected one way or the other, and then of course there's the whole Biden-Ukraine thing that is much more clearly a bribery/quid-pro-quo situation.
Realize, folks, that this whole thing is about the courts. Trump and the Republican-run Senate have been installing hundreds of conservative judges (187 at last count) as well as two Supreme Court Justices. Ginsburg's going to keel over any day now, and that will give him a historic third Justice. Sotomayor has serious diabetes. Thomas is sick of his job and would like to retire. The Supreme Court will be the Trump Court.
Trump's even managed to flip the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals with several judicial appointments that have tilted the court from mostly left wing to approximately 50-50 and likely to become conservative in a few years if he's reelected.
The last thing the Democrats want him to make is another Supreme Court appointment or two. They're probably hoping that while he's under impeachment, he can be recused from appointing a Justice.
One thing the Dems don't generally talk about is that Pence is more conservative than Trump. Be careful what you wish for, Dems. You may end up with a fundamentalist Christian running the show, a man who is unimpeachable, a good orator who wows the crowds at Trump rallies, and is highly electable compared to the pool of Democrats currently gunning for the nomination.
Exactly. But perhaps those in charge of upholding the law do. Or maybe not. Who knows?
