A kid knocks on your door or rings your bell while playing a game of Ding Dong Dash, runs away, jumps in a car with his buddies, and you run to your car and chase them down? Not only that, but you ram them into a tree? As a result, 3 of the boys are dead? Wow!! That’s some serious rage!
No kidding! You may remember another game that was played back in the day....set a bag of dog poop on fire and toss it on a doorstep, then watch in hilarity as the homeowner stomps on the bag.......
Kids today better not try that one, it could cause even worse actions than ramming with a car....
And when you see the pics of the boys, they look like the typical ‘All American fresh faced kids,” and he definitely DOESN’T look like anyone’s version of ‘All American.’
I think what you might be missing is that if you've paid attention to other similar high-profile stories it's been black kid\white shooter in a so-so neighborhood. (Girl shot through the door in Detroit, Black teen lost and rang doorbell asking for directions etc.)
Now granted, those are stories more likely to be promoted to national news so we hear about them because they generate clicks and tell the "proper" narrative.
Not saying by any means that the guy was justified in what he did, but.....
The kids put themselves in a bad place doing a stupid activity. They messed with a highly unstable person and it cost them dearly.
Ding dong ditch is a harmless "game" that has been played forever. It's akin to TP'ing someone's house. You guys are more than reaching. This is not an example of "playing stupid games".

I heard about the story before it was posted here. I don’t live in California. Thus, it was national news.
This is not the 70’s show! You are putting yourself at risk by playing games with peoples today. With the popularity of amazon delivery and people stealing packages left at front doors...you don’t know if someone has stolen something and was making a get away.
I don’t get the game anyway. You make someone get up and answer the door but you fooled them. There is a thrill in that? The expectation has to be that people are extremely lazy and going to answer the door is a big deal.
