Okay so I'm still reading through the 64 pages of the Feds jibber jabber report but on page two it says 3 out of 10 adults have family income that varies from month to month. Maybe its the $75.00 and $125. 00 emergencies that keep people from saving. In order to save you need to have the same amount of money each month even if you are going to put away $25.00 per month.
No you don't - you figure you will always save a certain percentage of your income. That's what we do. Works great.
That is exactly what I just said you are doing with me, so you turn it around? Unreal. It's that liberal way of accusing people of doing exactly what you are guilty of. (I know, I know....you're not a liberal. You've told me. But you do use their tactics and agree with their viewpoints.)
That would make you a liberal according to your own argument, which is why your fake labels come across childish.
Finn, your argument is that most of this issue of people not having $400 in savings is because of systemic issues in our system. Is that fair to say?
Let's say that is true, and I do believe there are of course, systemic problems, then what do you propose to address the problem? Would love to hear a few points, which we can all move on to do discuss.
I said that I said. Read it again if you must.
My point is that many people struggle to pay for basic necessities (like the ones I listed), not because they buy a new iPhone every month.
There are proposals to address the issues I listed, and they come from both sides of the aisle, but trying to discuss them here would derail the thread. After all, issues like reducing cost of healthcare has been discussed on countless threads on this board.

Okay, I tried to reach out to you, but obviously you dodged and showed you really don't want to discuss it, but rather call people like Rachel names. I see.
Anyone who doesn't have $400 in the bank at any given time should be made to wear a barrel so that we can know who to really look down upon and feel superior to!!!!!
I know what I am arguing, and from what I can see, what Rachel and others are arguing, is that wasting money frivolously is a PORTION of the problem, across all incomes.
Portion? I can't see a post where she talks about any other causes. Can you help me find one? I see her talking about iPhones and cruises etc over, and over, and over again.
$11.2 billion in profits last year and Amazon (according to you) only had a 3.05% profit margin? How does that happen? Please share your homework ... I'm not going to do Apple or Google and even I can afford Walmart stock, so --- that should tell you something about Walmart not being the big dog on the street any more --- not since Amazon. You also should realize that Jeff Bezos is smart enough not to pay himself a billion dollars a year.
indeed.
I've kept 1 of your links - Bezos cashed in $1.80 of stock, and netted after tax $1.40. 1.8-1.4 = 0.4. 0.4/1.8 = 22.2% tax rate.
or in this case - $400 MILLION dollars of TAXES.
Now, "how in holy hell did he just pay a 22% rate???????" you have to be asking. Because that stock he has owned for > 24 months, and so it is a long-term capital gain with a 20% tax rate.

You are not reaching out, you are asking me to help you take the thread off topic. Healthcare, education, housing etc are massive topics and it would be impossible to stay on topic while discussing them at the same time.
My point is that there are multiple causes why people can't save and that there are also proposed solutions from both sides of the aisle. Pretending that irresponsible spending it the only cause guarantees the other causes will never be addressed (because according to the argument they do not play into it).

This is the pseudo-conservative argument pushed by Rachel etc.

We gave you two examples and you laughed, even when given examples.
