The reality is that nature is in charge of this more than any human leader. We may get lucky, and this may not transform into a 1918 level Spanish Flu, but then again we may NOT get lucky. Responsible leadership should have a solid preparation plan for that worst case scenario, it is not sufficient to simply roll the dice and hope it all turns out OK.

Regardless of how Trump has handled this situation since it's start, and from here forward I think it will cost him the election.

To be sure, winter is typically the slowest season of the year for travel (other than to ski resorts, of course), so it's not like the planes would have been full if not for the coronavirus. But if this continues into the peak summer season, and people refrain from traveling in large numbers at that time, that's when what is already a crisis in the travel industry will become an all-out disaster. And the Dow will drop all the more.
March is huge for family and university spring breakers, especially in Florida and east and west coast cruise ship ports.

Indeed. I've always said nature will bat last. Not sure which inning this is, but Mother Nature will win out.

The SS Trumptanic has hit the Iceberg (Corona Virus and recession). The rich will get the lifeboats and the poor will be locked in steerage. Same old ...same old!

The strong economy is the only thing he had working in his favor and now he no longer has that.

Trump will get the "values voters" but that won't be enough to win him the election. It wasn't in 2008 and it won't be now.

He is worried more about looking bad,in an election year more than anything else.

I am personally unaware of anyone who has been praying for a recession beyond the few who trend extreme libertarian/ anarchistic on this forum who, over the years, seem to want the economy to collapse.

I can't imagine being that much of a partisan hack.
So when global unemployment rates were at record lows, it was because of Trump but when the global economy is grinding to a halt it has nothing to do with Trump?

Come on, the economy was never that great. Less than 2% GDP growth was expected BEFORE the virus arrived. Thats far from great. Unemployment was low but that was the case in dozens of other developed countries as well.
