I was thinking the same thing. I rarely watch Trump speak at all because he sounds awful, but I thought I'd tune in to get some information from the experts so I've had to endure Trump (and Pence) both on Friday and this evening. Uuughh.
What I don't understand is the self-aggrandizing. And the pats on the back they all have to give each other. And all the people standing on the stage behind the speaker. Smiling, nodding, trying to get their face in. It's just so weird. I can't recall anything like it.
Get to the podium, state the news without any melodrama, answer a few questions, and move on. None of this is reassuring. The *only* person who gets up there and does it how it should be done and inspires me is Fauci.
I watched it after it was done on Youtube. I could forward ahead to the parts I wanted to see. I am not sure which is worse. Trump bragging about how great he is doing or Pence bragging about how great Trump is doing.

Gov. Gavin Newsom called Sunday for all senior citizens and residents with chronic conditions to isolate themselves at home, as well as for all bars, wineries and brewpubs to close, launching the state's most sweeping effort yet to slow the spread of coronavirus.
No other state has imposed such restrictions on residents age 65 and older. Newsom said his orders do not come with enforcement but that he expects residents and counties to follow his protocols.
But what happens after 3 weeks? A shutdown only works if it complete eradicates the virus. It probably won't so then after 3 weeks we open back up and a month later we are back to where we are now. We cannot keep yoyoing like that.
You should read the WaPo article on this. It made a pretty good case for why a shutdown is hopeless in the long run and it is better to just slow-go the virus with social distancing.
Well Fauci wants to flatten the curve. If people are still going out to bars, restaurants, spring break etc and not doing social distancing which seems to be the case a shutdown is next.
There is some big announcement tomorrow morning. We will see.
