CLOSED CASES
95,646
Cases which had an outcome:
86,256 (90%)
Recovered / Discharged

9,390 (10%)
Deaths
You are reading it wrong because you are not including currently infected people.

That's in the neighborhood of 150,000 bringing the death rate down considerably.

You have to divide deaths by everyone that has it, not just those who have already gotten better or died.

Now what if the number infected is 50k and not 8900? Then doesn't that mean the death rate is much lower? I see this as possible because there is not much testing and Ive heard that they are counting people based on symptoms not tests as well. I still think people need to take precautions though.

My main concern is the powers that be using this to crash the economy for whatever nefarious purposes. One may be to institute a financial system that suits them better. Another concern is rights being taken away under the guise of safety and then a precedent is set and we don't get them back. We have to tread a thin line here.

That would be the death toll, not the death rate.

The death toll is one number alone, as you expressed above.

The death rate is expressed as a percentage and involves not just that one number. For instance, if 100,000 people got the virus in a particular state, and 1,000 of those people ended up dying from the disease, the death rate would be 1.0 %.

I'd rather listen to the experts than someone on CD doing math.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/18/healt...day/index.html

1. Your link is from CNN, not the WHO.

2. The WHO would not express the death toll as a percentage. The death toll is a whole number, an integer. It isn't expressed as a percentage. The death rate is expressed as a percentage.

3. I looked at both the Coronavirus Dashboard and the Emergencies page, and I didn't see anything expressed as a percentage.

4. If you go by the numbers on the WHO dashboard, which seems to be ab about 1 day behind (if you click on the U.S., it says that the numbers are from 3/20/20), the case total shows as 267,013 with a death toll of 11,201, which = a death rate of 4.1949%, not 9-10%

5. As of just over two hours ago the center at Johns Hopkins University for this put the case number worldwide at 303,001 and the death toll at 12,944, which is a rate of 4.2719%

6. CNN now puts the United States numbers at 2300+ cases and 295 deaths. That means a rate (if you take 2300 even) of 1.2826%

There was a point during the holocaust when only 116 Jews had been gassed.

In that case you must also estimate the people who currently have it that are going to die.

The odds I am most concerned with are the chances of a sixty year old diabetic woman with chronic kidney disease dying if she contracts it. I’m married to one.

Doesn't matter They'll say it's because of everything done by others (not the Pres) if it does kill 3 or 4 thousand they blame that on the President. Whichever way it breaks the left will do everything they can do to crap on him. All the time trying to make you forget that

That is about one death for every 1600 cases. Now imagine 36 million coronavirus 19 infections.

You shut the barn door before the horse gets out.

Much of the Philippines ain’t on lockdown because they hate Trump and Trump ain’t hating on himself either.
